We are so thankful to have Cary continuing his service on our board of directors!

Cary Craycroft began his career in horticulture at the Parklands of Floyds Fork in the spring of 2020, where he developed a strong foundation in plant identification, plant healthcare, meadow management, and timber stand improvement. During this time, he also worked as a nurseryman at Earl Thieneman Garden Center, gaining hands-on experience in tree care, identification, and proper planting techniques. He quickly advanced into a lead role in tree sales.

Building on this experience, Cary earned his ISA Certified Arborist credential in November 2023, qualifying him for his current position as a Staff Arborist with Louisville Metro Parks. In this role, he conducts tree inspections and helps protect and manage trees across more than 120 parks, as well as throughout Louisville’s four historic parkway systems. During his time with Metro Parks, Cary has also earned his Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ) and ISA Municipal Specialist credential.

In his spare time, Cary enjoys spending time outdoors, with interests that include fishing, trail running, and woodworking.

We want to introduce you to Abbie Hessian… she graciously volunteered to be one of our newest board members and provided some information about her arboricultural experience so we can get to know her…
“I grew up in the horticulture industry and a landscaping family. My grandfather was Larry Lose, he taught me so much as a horticulturist and was a wonderful role model. He inspired me to go to college and push myself to find my spot in the industry. I have a Bachelors of Agriculture Science - Horticulture from Murray State University. I am a certified Arborist, a Master Gardener and a mom. I currently work for Inside Out Landscape Design in Frankfort, KY.”
