Someone asked me, if I had ever seen the Statue of Francis Marion at Witherspoon's Ferry in Johnsonville? I have now and it was impressive and well worth the trip to go and see.

I've been real busy working on the business aspect of the Francis Marion Association I had to breakdown and hire an Attorney to help me with the non profit organization setup and that's finally been completed and we're now officially, a non profit Corporation. Soon I'll get a crash course on how all this works. I continue to meet people and tell my story on how I can just imagine one day, a beautiful park with the center piece being a large fabulous bronze statue of General Francis Marion, to be located here in Georgetown. So far, all my expenses have been mine alone, which is being spent gladly by me, it just intensifies my ambition to see this project become reality. I've already approached some people to possibly serve on our Board of Directors, I have no doubt, that we will require a very savvy group to lead this project. Remember most of all, this project is all about honoring one of South Carolina's greatest Revolutionary War Heroes, Brigadier General, Francis Marion.

A message from Rod Stalvey, to all those that might be interested in helping with my idea, to create a park, within the Historic District of Georgetown. My concept of the Francis Marion Association park is based on the City of Savannah's many Historic Squares, that can be found and enjoyed, while visiting Savannah. My idea consist of having a large Bronze Statue of General Francis Marion, on a large Granite Pedestal, as the center piece of a wonderfully landscaped garden, with beautiful benches throughout the garden, where anyone can just come sit and admire this statue of one of the Greatest Revolutionary War Heroes of South Carolina, the Low Country's Swamp Fox, General Francis Marion. If you feel as inspired as I do and would like to help me make this idea come to life? Then please contact me and help me make this park come to life.

It's all about our American Revolutionary 250th Anniversary, that's coming up in 2026. I think the appropriate name is the Semiquincentennial or 250th anniversary. Our email address is [email protected]
