GWPVG had the honor of attending the Inaugural Lone Star Ribbon Awards! George West Primary celebrated their 3-time National Blue Ribbon ππ π
The Primary has always been a place that has welcomed parents, allowed us to volunteer inside and outside the classroom , celebrate our children in any and every way and be present when it matters the most. We are so use to being involved in GW, that we often forget that not all schools allow parent involvement like GW. Especially during a time like the βcov!d eraβ. In 2020, it came to my attention that the Pre-K class needed funds for two major events. Christmas and graduation. Mrs.Mauer introduced me to Mrs.Cortez and I pitched my first idea. She approved my wild plan to paint Longhorns on the students ( and some really fun staff π€ͺ) faces and hands for Homecoming. I rallied parents to volunteer for something NONE of us had ever done. At 6:30 AM, our crew of mamas showed up with paint, Longhorn stencils and a large cup of coffee. We raised enough funds to purchase caps and gowns ( that are still used today ) and a Christmas gift for EVERY HeadStart child. That was the birth of this incredible Parent Volunteer Group. We havenβt stopped since then, and we truly never will. ππ€π½
This award speaks volumes on the quality of educators at GWISD ! We are truly blessed with the best. Thank You Roland Quesada for including us, it was a honor.
Congratulations to The Primary campus ! π
