For those of you that don't know me personally and would li
ke to know me a little better and what I could bring to Coryell County I have written a Bio so that you can get to know me on a more personal level. That was one of my statements. I want to communicate with the community, you are the eyes and ears for Law Enforcement. I was raised in Gatesville, Tx by Judy and Floyd Williams. I was introduced early on in Law Enforcement because of my father being Chief of Police for Gatesville. Watching my father stand for a greater good, I wanted to be that kind of person. I have a total of 31 years of Law Enforcement knowledge and experience. I have been married to my wife Yvonne for 18 years, we own two successful business' CandY Pet Palace and Warriors Code Fi****ms Academy. While maintaining my full time employment with Waco PD. I have two, now grown children Stephen "Stevie" and Whitney Sowders. I taught my children to be leaders and not followers, in fact the phrase was a very common topic. With that being said I am proud to say with those teachings, Stevie is now a U.S Marine, Whitney is a dispatcher for Waco Police Department and will start the Waco PD Academy in a few days. After graduating from Gatesville High School, I began my studies at Central Texas College in Criminal Justice and received my associates degree in Associate applied Science/Criminal Justice. At the ripe age of 18 the McGregor Police department hired me and I worked there for 5 years. The next 5 years I was employed in Gatesville, Tx and even received the Medal of Valor. Seeing that I could broaden my training and learn how to use more resources with a larger department I began my career in Waco, Tx. where I currently serve the community as a Detective but I have always lived in Gatesville a total of 40 years now. I have always dreamed of being Sheriff of Coryell County and knew working for a larger City/County gave more opportunities such as training and learning how to use your resources, this is valuable knowledge that I can bring to Coryell County. I have always trusted that, my Lord and Savior would tell me when it was time to run for Coryell County Sheriff and that time is now. I have always remained involved within our community since my children attended GISD. I stay involved with the community through mine and my wife's business. I help her with many events through the Gatesville Exchange Club which our business has been a member of for 2 years. Such events are "Day of the Child" , " Fire Ant Tour" and the "Honor Flags." Others have been with Tractor Supply Pet Events. I keep up with current events within our community for a few reasons. One being I have lived in Gatesville since I was 9, I am also a resident such as yourself and having a safer community means a lot to me. So if anyone says I have no experience with Coryell County is a false statement. All the above information should show that. Crime and penal codes are no different from one City and or County.
