One day Sam was on a horseback ride with the man in this picture, his trusted friend John H. Reagan, a man who held many offices in Texas including U.S. Senator.

It was a blistering afternoon after Sam’s baptism into the faith when his horse misstepped and nearly threw him. Houston angrily blurted out, "G@d D%& # a stumbling horse!"

Reagan, a prominent Baptist, was shocked at the profanity of his newly converted friend and said, "Oh! Brother Houston, do you still swear?!"

Sam was a little caught off guard. "Well, what must I do?"
"You need to ask God to forgive you" Reagan replied.
"I'll do it" he said, "hold my bridle rein."
With that Sam dismounted from his horse, took off his hat and knelt in the hot prairie to ask for forgiveness.

When he finished his petition he got back on his horse and Reagan asked him if he got it all squared away. “Oh yeah,” he said. “That was a damned good prayer!"

I am humbled. The chapter won a couple of awards including first place in education for our scholarship for our chapter size and third place for president's narrative report. I cried in both; one being for my mom's spirit keeping the drive in me for scholarships and knowing that since I did all the work myself for our chapter, with no help, save from my father, and got third. One person Can make a difference! Now, time for getting papers and transfers in so I can delegate the work!

Working on New member applications and a couple of transfer/reinstatements. Does anyone else want for me to put their name on documents for membership while I'm at it?
