A Gift of Warmth from the Carson Valley Quilt Guild 🙌

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the Carson Valley Quilt Guild for another generous donation of beautiful handmade quilts.

For several years, the members of the Quilt Guild have donated quilts for our Deputies to carry and provide to members of our community who may need a little extra warmth—whether from the cold or simply some comfort during a difficult time.

These quilts are more than just blankets. They represent kindness, compassion, and a community taking care of one another. Our Deputies have the privilege of giving them to people during moments when a little warmth and comfort can make a meaningful difference.

We are truly grateful to the Carson Valley Quilt Guild for the time, care, and heart they put into every quilt and for their continued support of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and the community we serve.

Thank you, Carson Valley Quilt Guild, for helping us bring a little warmth to those who need it most.

“This quilt was a Block-of-the-Month sponsored by Sierra Sewing in Carson City, Nevada. They offered the completion kit and pattern for the fill-ins. I decided to hand quilt using the long stitch method using a variety of colors.

This was started in Sept. 2024 and top was completed by Sept. 2025.”

“This quilt top was made in 2009 using a pattern called "Tag Sale". It was supposed to be a class, but the teacher called in sick, and we were left to our own devices. I finally finished last year and didn't remember how much I liked the colors!”

“Every year my mini group, Friday St*****rs, challenge ourselves to do something new. This past year we chose a challenge with paper piecing (which I love) and curve piecing (which I don't.)
We were inspired by Linda Haun's New York Beauty class. The blocks are created with fabrics from my stash of white/gray/black fabrics and I chose to set them on point.”

“This is a Christmas quilt from Coach House Designs. It was a kit I purchased. It includes 5 panels that are surrounded by pieced borders that look like gingham ribbon. Linda Johnson also pieced 2 blocks for me. It was begun in 2024 but not quilted by SueJeffrey until 2025.”

Our guild donated 7 beautiful table runners to Austin’s House to brighten their dining table throughout the year!
