After an unforgettable sold-out First Annual Gala in 2025, A Child’s Wish Foundation is beyond excited to officially announce the date for our 2026 Gala Night!

Last year was nothing short of extraordinary. Because of your generosity and support, we raised an incredible $135,000, allowing us to grant wishes to three amazing families. Those wishes created meaningful, lasting memories not just for the children and their families but for everyone who attended that magical evening.

The love, energy, and compassion in the room made our first gala such a powerful success and we cannot wait to make 2026 even more amazing.

Due to the overwhelming response and knowing we will sell out again, we’re making this announcement early so everyone has the opportunity to attend what is sure to be another unforgettable night of impact, celebration, and community.

After we made the decision to try and reschedule due to the weather—and once Nancy and Bob committed to making the trip to Middletown—I reached out to our other board member, Anne Barnhart. Without hesitation, Anne shared that she would be continuing with her original plans too and making her way to St. Luke’s Hospital in Newburgh.

After checking in with the Highway Department about road conditions, Anne and her husband, Rich, loaded up the gift baskets and set out for St. Luke’s. They arrived safely and delivered the baskets, bringing comfort and joy to children spending Christmas in the hospital.

Anne shared the same heartfelt sentiment as Nancy—that while the delivery could have been made another day, what mattered most was being there today. Their determination and generosity ensured that these children felt remembered and cared for on Christmas.

Anne and Rich are truly incredible people, and because of their selfless willingness to make it happen, there are children who are smiling a little brighter this Christmas. Every member of our board exemplifies what this foundation stands for—kindness, love, and a deep commitment to others.

This is the true meaning of Christmas, and I am so incredibly blessed to be surrounded by such amazing people.

A Child’s Wish – Holiday Post 1 of 2

Today was the day we planned to deliver our gift baskets to two local hospitals—Garnet Health in Middletown and St. Luke’s in Newburgh. Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t cooperating, and out of concern for everyone’s safety, I made the difficult decision to reschedule so no one would risk an accident.

When we called Garnet to arrange a new delivery date, we learned there were seven children spending Christmas in the hospital—far more than we had anticipated. That’s when one of our board members, Nancy Miller, reminded us what this foundation truly stands for. She said, “We have to find a way to get there. These children need these baskets to bring them some joy on Christmas.”

Without hesitation, Nancy told me she was going—one way or another. And that’s exactly what she and her husband, Bob, did. They made the trip safely and delivered the baskets in time to bring smiles and comfort to those children on Christmas.

It’s selfless acts like this that make everyone involved with this foundation so special. The genuine care, compassion, and commitment to bringing happiness to others is what truly defines the spirit of Christmas.

Thank you, Bob and Nancy, for making this happen today. Your hearts and dedication are an inspiration to us all.

Today, on Giving Tuesday, we’re reminded of the incredible impact that compassion and generosity can have. At A Child’s Wish, we have the privilege of helping children with life-altering or life-threatening illnesses experience hope, joy, and unforgettable moments. Their strength inspires us daily, and their wishes remind us just how powerful a single moment of happiness can be.

Because of supporters like you, children have traveled to dream destinations and created memories their families will cherish forever. We are truly grateful for every act of kindness that makes these moments possible.

Our goal is simple: to grant every wish for every eligible child.

On behalf of our Board of Directors, we are truly humbled, proud, and beyond grateful for everyone who joined us this past Saturday for our very first Child’s Wish Foundation Gala. What an unforgettable evening it was — filled with laughter, joy, inspiration, and, most importantly, love and compassion for a cause so close to our hearts.

Seeing so many incredible people come together to celebrate the beginning of what we know will be an amazing journey was truly overwhelming. Your kindness, generosity, and belief in our mission remind us just how lucky we are to be surrounded by such wonderful friends, family, and supporters. Because of you, we are one step closer to making a real difference in the lives of countless children and their families.

We also want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our sponsors, whose generosity made this magical night possible. Your partnership and support were instrumental in bringing this vision to life — from the beautiful venue and dinner to the music, auction, and everything in between.

We were especially blessed to have three amazing families join us and share their stories with everyone in attendance. Hearing their journeys, their strength, and their love reminded us all why this foundation exists — to bring hope, comfort, and joy when it’s needed most. It was an absolute honor to meet them and to have the opportunity to grant their wishes through the Child’s Wish Foundation. To each of these families, we send all our love and support as you continue your journeys — you have truly touched our hearts and inspired us all.

Everyone had such an amazing time, and we couldn’t have asked for a better start to this incredible adventure. Together, we are building something that will bring hope, smiles, and lasting joy to those who need it most.

A special thank you to Jimmy Sturr, who truly rocked the house with his amazing music and entertainment! And to Magnanini Winery & Restaurant for graciously hosting our evening, and Hearts n Flowers Florist for donating all the beautiful flowers — we appreciate you all more than words can say.

Recently, we shared the launch of our new foundation — A Child’s Wish: The Alice and Arnold Amthor Foundation. The response we received was truly overwhelming. Your kind words, encouragement, and generous support exceeded anything we could have imagined, and we are so deeply grateful.

I’m excited to share that we’ll be hosting our first Gala this fall at Magnanini Winery & Restaurant to help raise funds for our mission.
