Ready to swim? 🌊 An expected opening date of June 20 was announced at this week’s city council meeting for the new Gardena Community Aquatic & Senior Center. 🍾

“We are inviting the public to please join us in our grand opening of the aquatic center” announced City Clerk Clint Osorio and after brief chatter, confirmed the date of June 20. While there was some hesitation to give a specific date, it seems clear they are confident in a June opening.

ICYMI: The *NEW* Gardena Community Aquatic & Senior Center is coming along nicely! 🌊🌴 Want to see it in person? The is hosting their ‘State of the City 2026’ event TOMORROW at the new facility located at 1654 W. 160th St, Gardena, CA 90247.

The project set out to transform the City’s existing Primm Pool to an 8-lane, 12,000 SF state-of-the-art aquatics hub with spectator bleachers, pool equipment and storage buildings with indoor locker and family space connecting outdoor activity to the adjacent community senior center.

The community senior center will include offices, reception area, break rooms, and conference spaces, as well as daycare and kitchen space for Gardena’s senior community. Visitors will also enjoy the center’s additional exterior outdoor amenities via the aquatic adjacent courtyard, equipped with exercise stations and picnic space.

NEW: Footage of the June 4th theft in Gardena shows one suspect removing the catalytic converter while two others act as lookouts.

Shockingly, one of the lookouts was holding what appears to be a semi-automatic handgun and points it toward the victim’s home and security cameras. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Gardena Police Department.

Didn't receive all 3 stimulus payments? You may be eligible for a Recovery Rebate Credit, but make sure you submit a claim by May 17!

The Recovery Rebate Credit was created to give those who were entitled to stimulus checks, but did not receive them, an opportunity to claim them. It’s only available to taxpayers who did NOT receive all three stimulus checks issued in 2020 and 2021.

You can verify whether you received all three stimulus payments by visiting the IRS website and creating an account. www.irs.gov
