☀️The Irvine Unified School District (IUSD) wrapped up another successful annual College and Career Fair!

🌴Monday, October 5, 2026, at Portola High School. Students, families, and community members gathered for a free, evening event packed with resources and guidance for post-secondary planning.

The Fair Included:

Diverse Pathways & Representatives: Attendees connected directly with representatives from over 100 higher education institutions and career organizations

Informative Workshops & Breakout Sessions: Families accessed guidance on key post-high school topics, including college planning, admissions strategies, and more

A special thank you to the Exhibitors, Vital Link Staff, & Leadership (Jacobs, Amy Paulsen, Vicky Hsu, and Kevin O’Connell)

Students, take flight at the Vital Link Drone Competition, a high-energy, student-centered event hosted at Fullerton College that gives aspiring pilots and student engineers in Grades 5–12 an unforgettable platform to showcase their technical skills, piloting precision, and strategic navigation under pressure.

The main highlight is an adrenaline-fueled Drone Race operating under a head-to-head elimination format, where participants navigate two demanding phases: a Precision Obstacle Course featuring tight turns, altitude gates, and spatial challenges, followed by a high-speed Sprint where strategic line selection makes the difference between advancing and elimination.

We are thrilled to announce that the Vital Link Culinary Competition is coming back! 🍽️🔥

In 2027, aspiring student chefs will go head-to-head in our high-stakes Mystery Basket Challenge. In this fast-paced, hands-on event, student teams will transform a secret combination of ingredients into restaurant-quality dishes under pressure.

Designed to test real-world culinary technique, menu planning, and speed, this competition gives students a platform to shine directly in front of industry leaders.

Building skills while growing community. 🌾✨

Thanks to our wonderful partnership with OC Workforce Solutions, student Joseluis Salas-Monarrez recently wrapped up an awesome agriculture Job Shadow with Farmscape in Rancho Mission Viejo! Huge thanks to Head Farmer Matthew Geldin for opening his doors and making this experience possible.

Farmscape’s work in Rancho Mission Viejo goes far beyond farming:
• Esencia Farm connects 60+ families to farming every month.
• Sendero Farm hosts community events, U-picks, and outdoor dining.
• Giving Back: A portion of all fresh produce grown is donated directly to local food pantries.

We’re so proud of Joseluis and grateful for community partners like Farmscape!
