Every Sunday, we share the next meal we’ll be building for the families we serve at Burnet Elementary and invite our community to help us make it happen.

This week, we’re making Tuna Mac Casserole!

Sometimes, our meals start with the donations we already have on hand. Right now, we have several cans of tuna and peas, so we’re adding a few more simple ingredients to turn those donations into a complete meal for our families!

That’s one of the things we love about our Meal in a Bag program. We make the most of what our community gives us and turn those ingredients into something families can take home, prepare and enjoy together.

Because this is about more than putting food in a bag.

It’s about giving families the ingredients and a recipe to make dinner happen. It’s about taking some of the guesswork out of the evening. It’s about creating a cooking experience and, most importantly, feeding families with dignity.

And we couldn’t do any of this without the people who continue to show up for our mission. Every donation, every shared post and every helping hand makes a difference!

💙 MONDAY MORNING — WE NEED A LITTLE HELP

Normally, Monday is when we share the Meals in a Bag we’re building for the week.

This week, we’re still finishing Taco Spaghetti and Chicken Pot Pasta for the 55 families we serve.

We need to build 55 bags of EACH meal — that’s 110 meal bags total, enough to provide two weeks of meals for all 55 families.

Right now, we’re $77.80 short in ingredients.

That’s it. $77.80.

We’ll be building on Wednesday, so we’re hoping our Galveston community can help us cross the finish line before then.
