I would like to take a moment to extend my deepest appreciation to Clara Reed Brown and Sharwawn Fontno from UTMB. These two remarkable young ladies have truly gone above and beyond in supporting our residents on their employment journeys. Their commitment, guidance, and dedication to our residents’ healing and growth have been nothing short of life-changing. We are incredibly grateful for the time, energy, and compassion they pour into our community.

I also want to thank Cheryl Clark for taking the time to help prepare residents for interviews. Her insight and support have made a real difference; our hard work has paid off. We have now received another UTMB offer letter, bringing us to three UTMB hires.

This is a tremendous milestone for David’s House and a testament to what strong partnerships and belief in people can accomplish.

To our broader community: thank you. Thank you for your unconditional love, the clothing donations, the meals, and for believing in our program and the individuals we serve. Your generosity and continued support make our mission possible.
Together, we are transforming lives, one opportunity, one act of kindness, and one success story at a time.

To truly understand trauma-informed care, one must go beyond theory and embrace the depth of an individual’s lived experiences.
Bearing witness to stories of trauma can be emotionally overwhelming, and there are moments when the weight feels almost too heavy to carry. But just when we are at our lowest, God sends angels, small acts of kindness, unexpected moments of joy, and reminders that we are not alone in this work.

Thank you to Moody Market for blessing our residents not just with your generosity, but with your warmth and presence.
The smiles you brought made a real impact, offering encouragement and light during a challenging week.
Please know that your kindness has helped carry us through.

Overcoming adversity requires more than just resilience,it demands the courage to confront your past, accept what cannot be changed, and choose to grow anyway.

At David’s House, we are witnessing a powerful transformation. Our residents are learning that healing doesn’t mean forgetting, but rather learning how to carry their stories with strength instead of shame.

Letting go of old wounds, toxic cycles, and the weight of judgment has opened the door to a future where they believe in their own worth and potential.

This week marked the final session of our UTMB job readiness program, and the change in our residents is undeniable. They are more confident, more open, and more determined. They’ve embraced the idea that progress and pain can coexist, and that every step forward is a victory.

A heartfelt thank you to the UTMB HR Department for creating such an authentic, judgment-free environment. Your unconditional support has given our residents more than just skills—it’s given them hope, dignity, and a renewed sense of purpose.
