This is a page for the feral cat colony that calls the hospital in Gainesville, Georgia their home. "Hospital Feline Friends" is a registered 501c3 non-profit organization (EIN #81-3984565). You can donate to our cats.....

The hospital approved our TNR program in early 2011. As of Janu

ary 2023, we have trapped/captured 95 cats on hospital property, and found homes for 56. If you would like to help, and/or be part of our feeding and care team, please let me know. Our biggest achievement was finally capturing Calico Mama in 2015. She had 24 kittens between 2010 and 2015! No cats have been born on hospital property since then. The universal sign of a feral cat that has been spayed or neutered is a "tipped" left ear. While the cat is asleep for their surgery, the vet clips the tip end of the left ear. This allows us humans to know who has been spayed/neutered and who has not. Our only exception to this was Calico Mama..... the vet forgot to tip her ear! Be sure to keep your posts relevant to the hospital cats and appropriate for everyone to read.

We have quite a few winter shelters around the hospital for the cats. Most of the shelters are storage bins we have insulated and put straw in. Sneakers has a special house that was given to him by his sister! (His littermate Gracie became totally inside after developing stomatitis.) Isn’t he cute?!❤️😻❤️ Many thanks to Debrah for feeding this morning and getting the awesome pics!

Sneakers, Sam, Eclipse, Cheddar, Tiger, and Ava hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! 🦃🍁 All their shelters have been checked and supplied with fresh bedding straw. Now it’s our duty to make sure they have plenty of food so they can grow thick fur coats!
Here are some pictures our feeders have taken of them in the last few weeks! Unfortunately, Eclipse normally doesn’t show himself until the wee hours of the night and early morning😻😻😻😻😻😻

Help found for now! Don’t hesitate to let me know if you would like to help feed also 😻😻😻

***Help Needed!***
We are desperately looking for someone that can help feed the front (Outpatient) garage cats on Mondays. We supply all the food, and anytime between 6am and 6pm is acceptable for you to put out the food.
If you or anyone you know parks in the outpatient parking garage for work, it would be super convenient for you to put the food in the bowls!
If interested, send me a message here, or call/text #770-855-5335 Susan

***Thank you!***
I (Susan) would like to take this time to say a HUGE "Thank You!" to all the wonderful volunteers that have made our program a success. Without each of you, none of this would be possible.
In addition to me, there is one volunteer who has been with the program since it started in 2011. She likes to remain mostly anonymous, but we have truly been partners in making things happen since the very beginning 😻😻
I tried to tag everyone on this list, but for some reason I couldn't.
Harriette M. Taylor joined us more than two years ago, and has tirelessly fed the cats, and always gone over and above when the cats needed something..... even on short notice.
Debrah Perron Jordan and Wendy Sherrell Tolbert have both been with us for almost two years, and Diana Behnke has been with us for almost a year. These ladies have given so much of their time to the cats.
We had quite a few volunteers join our team in early 2025. Those that are still feeding are: Maria Sinopoli, Tiffany G. Holcombe, and Jessica Drexler. Those that have had to take a break for personal reasons are: Tara Nix and Stephanie Acevedo. We hope they will be able to resume some feeding shifts soon!
Over the last 14 years, we have had many feeders that all fed for anywhere between several months up to several years before personal things necessitated them dropping out. They are Lynn Marie Marascalco, Lauren Voisine, Jeannie Murphy, Nance Burrell, Katie Fields, Jan Hughes, June Turner, Melanie Baker, Suzanne Gailey, Dustonia Call, Vicki Miller, Louann Jones, Christina Martin, Amanda Peyton, and Jennifer Dressler. Y'all PLEASE let me know if I have left someone out! I have a running list of the cats, but never started one of our volunteers.
I would also like to thank our many donors that have given food, or monies to buy cat food and medical care for the cats. The hospital used to give us $1,000 a year to help with expenses, but they stopped giving us anything two years ago.
Currently, we really need a volunteer(s) that could feed the front garage cats on some Mondays sometime between 6am and 6pm, and someone that might could feed on an occasional Sunday between 6am and 2pm. If that's you, please let me know!

It seems really strange to be in the backyard feeding the cats and Pumpkin not be there. I like to think his little spirit is still sitting at the top of the hill keeping watch over his territory 😻
All the other cats are doing great! Sneakers usually meets us at the bottom of the hill, Eclipse comes out by the big feeder, and Sam has been up around the sidewalk. All of them have been going up to the sidewalk a lot more.
The front cats are doing great also! Tiger loves Cheddar so much, and Miss. Ava loves both the boys!

*Kitty needs a home!*
“My parents (in south Hall county) have a stray young male kitty that needs a home. He is the sweetest thing. He will definitely be a loving lap kitty! We can pay to have him neutered.”

*Our Beloved Pumpkin 2010-2025*
With tremendous sadness, I want to let everyone know that our beloved Pumpkin has gone to Rainbow Bridge. Pumpkin was born at the hospital to Calico Mama in 2010. He lived his entire life at the hospital winning friends with his handsome good looks and totally charming personality. The highlight of his day was waiting for members of his fan club to walk by with food and pets. He loved each of you just as much as you loved him.
Over the last six months or so, many of us tried to capture Pumpkin so we could take him to the vet, but were unsuccessful. Sunday evening, one of our nurses was finally able to get him in a carrier because he was so weak. He rested quietly in the home of one of our volunteers Sunday night. Unfortunately, he had no reserve left, and the humane thing to do was let him go. Dr. Sue Mansour came Monday, and he passed very peacefully surrounded by those who loved him. Pumpkin now rests next to his mother, and three younger brothers that passed before him. Thank you to everyone who loved Pumpkin and gave him snacks ❤️
Please share your pictures and memories of sweet Pumpkin in the comments.............

UPDATE: Wendy, who feeds Pumpkin Monday thru Friday, was just at the hospital to evaluate him.
Wendy said he isn’t in any acute distress, but he is dehydrated (as evidenced by his skin turgor). All that black on his paws means he has been under the breezeway (where he sometimes goes when it’s cold). She tried twice to get him in a carrier with no success.
We’ve known for a long time that he’s too skinny. A while back ago, several of us tried to capture him, but no one was successful. It’s amazing how strong and quick a cat can be even when they are sick.
Thank you to everyone who loves sweet Pumpkin ❤️😻❤️

Can someone check on Pumpin???? I just got a message that he was lying on the employee parking sidewalk “barely breathing” 😳 It would be several hours before I can get there. Can anyone go out and make an assessment????🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏❤️😻❤️

Just wanted to let everyone know that Hospital Feline Friends is alive and well! Google has a business profile for Hospital Feline Friends that comes up when you Google anything close to our name. I never asked for that. As a result, I’m getting multiple calls from people in north Georgia wanting us to take their cats, come get their cats, trap their feral cats, etc. etc. I emailed Google asking for the listing to be deleted, and they promptly put “Permanently Closed” on the listing, and left it up 🤦‍♀️ I had a phone call meeting with Google today to hopefully get this straightened out.
So if you see “Permanently Closed”, please know that Google is wrong!
