Twelve women proudly represented FVJWC at the GFWC of NC 124th Annual Convention in Durham and returned to Fuquay-Varina feeling inspired to turn new ideas into meaningful action within our community.
On Friday, students from Riverside High School opened the conference with the Presentation of Colors and a beautiful National Anthem. Committee updates were shared, bylaws were amended, and awards were distributed. Guest speaker Andora Hinton reminded us that there is power in our voices and encouraged us to lead with curiosity. That evening, we enjoyed a “Night of the Stars” banquet where our very own Brittany May received an Honorary Life Membership and Leah Martin received the Outstanding Junior Clubwoman Award.
Saturday brought a powerful message from US Congresswoman Valerie Foushee about the importance of every community having a voice, strengthening childhood literacy, and advocating for diversity in AI innovation. Clubwomen from across NC voted on resolutions and learned about impactful community service projects happening in our state. We heard from author Donna Everhart, known for vividly evoking challenges of the heart and the complex heritage of the American South. Her new book, “Women of a Promiscuous Nature,” is a must-read.
Saturday evening included many special moments as we celebrated the accomplishments of the 2024-2026 leaders and ushered in the 2026-2028 administration. We are especially proud that several FVJWC Clubwomen stepped into these roles. Rebecca Duffy passed the torch to Brittany May, the new GFWC-NC Director Junior Clubs; Heather Massengill was installed as GFWC-NC Dean of Junior Clubs; and Sara Tyree was installed as GFWC-NC Secretary of Junior Clubs. A new theme was revealed: Together we have the POWER to change the world! 💜 Partnership, Outreach, Women, Empowerment, Resilience 💜
