The Hope Closet

The Hope Closet The Hope Closet is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and emergency resource serving southern Wake County, NC.

We collect essential items that foster safe, healthy, and habitable living conditions and distribute them to individuals and families facing hardship. The Hope Closet in Fuquay-Varina houses the generous donations of our community so that we can share these items with purpose and love to local economically-disadvantaged families in need. Each donation received and gifted is valued not just as an i

tem, but as a conversation, a smile, a hug, a prayer, and a way to connect with someone in our community who is struggling and may need that connection just as much, if not more, than the item itself. Donations Accepted:

- Furniture (Bunk beds/sleeper sofas most of all!)
- Housewares and kitchen
- Towels
- Linens and bedding
- Cleaning products
- Hygiene products
- Toys (like new, gently used)
- Clothing (primarily childrens, like new, gently used)
- Baby items, diapers, wipes, etc.
- Children's books and Bibles
- School supplies and bookbags

Volunteer Opportunies:

- Community donation pick ups and deliveries
- Hope Closet clothing/donation sorting
- Event planning and volunteers for community outreach events
- Trucks and heavy-lifters for large furniture items

This past Monday, we had the privilege of showing a little extra love and appreciation to the incredible social workers in our community. ❤️

At the beginning of this year, we began partnering with both CPS and school social workers throughout southern Wake County to serve as a resource for families in need. Together, we help families create safe, healthy, and habitable homes by providing essential household furnishings and support during times of hardship and crisis.

Through this partnership, we have witnessed firsthand the compassion, dedication, and tireless work social workers pour into the lives of children and families every day. They step into difficult situations, advocate for those who need a voice, and work relentlessly to help families overcome challenges and build brighter futures.

We are deeply grateful for all they do and want to invite others to join us in supporting these amazing professionals. Whether through donations, volunteering, providing encouragement, helping us meet practical needs for local families, or making goodie bags for social workers, you can play a part in making a difference.

Together, we can help ensure that social workers have the resources they need and that families facing hardship know they are not alone.

💙 If you'd like to get involved, send us a message or visit our website to learn more about how you can help.

💙 A special thank you to The Hope Closet for stopping by Southern Regional Center and delivering goodie bags to our incredible Child Welfare staff!

We are grateful for their continued partnership and support of the important work our team does each day to serve children and families in our community. Thank you for helping make our staff feel appreciated! ✨

We are behind on updating the community regarding the work we have been doing, but wanted to share with everyone about the impactful things we have been seeing.

Over the past several weeks, we have witnessed something beautiful and deeply moving through the outreach work of The Hope Closet. Because of your generosity during our March collection drive, countless household essentials have been delivered to over 400 individuals and have become tangible reminders of God's love to families and individuals walking through unimaginable hardship. We have been able to meet each person where they are in life and walk with them, and we would like to share just a few of these stories.

We delivered furnishings and support to a homebound, disabled amputee man whose living conditions had become overwhelming and isolating. What may have seemed like simple household items became dignity, comfort, and a reminder that he has not been forgotten.

We served a senior woman who had been left with almost nothing. As we carried in furniture, linens, and essentials, tears filled her eyes as she quietly shared that she did not know how she was going to start over. In that sacred moment, we could feel the compassion surrounding her.

We also walked alongside a single mother carrying the weight of multiple tragedies at once, including child loss. Through every conversation, every delivery, and every prayer, we were reminded that hope often arrives in the smallest acts of kindness. Your donations helped create moments of relief during one of the darkest seasons of her life.

Another deeply powerful encounter was serving a woman and her daughter who were fleeing domestic violence. They were placed in a new home with very little, carrying fear, uncertainty, and emotional wounds that no family should endure. Yet as we helped her and began to learn more about her, the atmosphere shifted from heartbreak to hope.

Again and again, we are witnessing that this work is about far more than furniture and household items. It is about restoring dignity, rebuilding hope, and allowing people in crisis to encounter the support of community and love of Jesus works in a practical and personal way.

Thank you for helping us serve our neighbors. Your generosity is not only meeting physical needs — it is allowing for powerful moments of compassion, prayer, and human connection. We are endlessly grateful for each of you who continue to say “yes” to serving others.

We’re beyond thankful to the Fuquay Varina Jr Women's Club for supporting The Hope Closet’s mission with a generous donation! With this funding, The Hope Closet has been able to create a program called "Eyes on Hope" for children in the southern Wake County Public School System who need new eyeglasses.

This initiative addresses a critical and often overlooked barrier to academic success by providing eyeglasses to economically disadvantaged students in Wake County. Through a referral-based partnership with our local WCPSS social workers, the Eyes on Hope program will help ensure that children will receive the eyeglasses they need to learn, grow, and thrive - because every child deserves to clearly see their potential.

Thank you, Fuquay-Varina Jr. Women's Club for helping us create brighter, more stable futures for our neighbors in need!

There is nothing more encouraging or heartwarming than seeing our youth take time to serve others with compassion. Today we are lifting praise and gratitude for Hope Community Church's High School Ministry for the heart they poured into assembling care bags for our neighbors in need.

And they didn’t stop there! This amazing group not only assembled 135 bags, they also included 135 handwritten notes filled with encouragement and prayer to offer hope and strength for every recipient. ❤️

Way to go, Hope HSM! Your kindness will remind our neighbors who are facing hardship that they are seen and supported. Thank you for pouring so much heart into every bag! 🙌

Interested in volunteering with The Hope Closet? Sign up here ➡️ https://www.hopecloset.org/contact-1 and fill out the form at the bottom of the page. Current volunteer opportunities include:

🚛 Move Team: Includes delivering household items to individuals and families facing hardship. We often serve families who have no furniture to sit on, nor beds for every child. Delivering these items directly is deeply rewarding and creates a meaningful, lasting impact. This role requires the physical ability to lift 50 lbs or more.

👥 Outreach Team: Hand-deliver essential household items to individuals and families in need. This service opportunity often involves a group of 6-10 volunteers delivering pre-made bags of essential items, such as hygiene items or cleaning supplies, to families living in local section 8 communities.

💌 Care Team: Help from home in a wide variety of service opportunities. For example, arrange premade bags of essential items for delivery, write notecards with prayers or encouraging words to go in delivery bags, or participate in a meal train. These simple acts help people who are quietly struggling feel seen, loved, and hopeful.

We are so grateful for the incredible support from our community! 💛

It was so great seeing so many come out for our Stock the Trailer event this past Saturday at Beacon Thrift in Fuquay-Varina. We were able to fill the floor of our trailer with essential items to help individuals and families in need. Your kindness truly makes a difference! ✨

We also want to give a special thank you to the amazing volunteers who came out to serve during our Sort Day on Sunday 📦. Because of the time, energy, and hearts to serve of these volunteers, these donations are already being organized and prepared for those who need them most.

We are so thankful for each person who has given, served, and supported The Hope Closet. Together, we are making a real impact in our community! 💛

UPCOMING ➡️ We look forward to the week ahead with another Stock the Trailer event this Sunday at Be Renewed Church and help from more wonderful volunteers to sort, organize, and hand deliver items. 😊

Wow—we are truly honored and deeply humbled to be selected by Fuquay Varina Local Heroes as one of their nonprofit charity recipients!

Fuquay Varina Local Heroes, a branch of Local Heroes Inc., is a nonprofit organization dedicated to recognizing first responders who go above and beyond the call of duty.

As an emergency resource for individuals and families in southern Wake County facing hardship and crisis, The Hope Closet provides rapid-response support to those transitioning into homes without the means to create safe, healthy, and habitable living conditions on their own.

We could not do this work without the support and generosity of our community. We are incredibly grateful to be recognized alongside so many outstanding first responders who serve with courage and compassion. ❤️

The Hope Closet is grateful to Be Renewed Church for this partnership to collect essential household items for the underserved in our community. Please feel free to join us for service and this collection event on March 29th at 10am at Herbert Akins Middle School in Fuquay!

We’re honored to partner with Hope Closet to serve families in our local community 🤍

For many individuals and families facing hardship, everyday household essentials are items they still struggle to afford. Simple things like paper towels, detergent, hygiene products, and feminine items can make a meaningful difference.

There are two ways you can help:

1️⃣ Scan the QR code and have items shipped directly to Hope Closet.
2️⃣ Bring items with you to Be Renewed on Sunday, March 29 — we will be collecting them that morning.

Thank you for loving our community in practical ways. Let’s continue to be the hands and feet of Jesus.

Friends - The Hope Closet is honored to share that Beacon Fuquay-Varina (located at 1334 N Main St, Fuquay-Varina, NC 27526) has partnered with us for an in-person collection event - graciously allowing us to park our Hope Closet trailer in their parking lot on Saturday, March 21, from 11 AM - 3 PM for our Stock The Trailer event! This will be an opportunity for our community to fill our trailer with essential hygiene items and cleaning supplies to meet the needs of our neighbors who are quietly struggling.

For those unaware, the Beacon Thrift Store supports the Beacon Rescue Mission, which provides shelter for hundreds of people each year and serves the underserved in many other areas. We hope you will also take a moment to go inside and check them out, as they are another amazing ministry in our community!
