We thought we do something fun and share the furbabies of our donors because truly that’s why we all do this right?!

We want to thank these pups ,Sparrow and Buddy, and Lucy and Bella - and their owners Alexandria Beaver and April Bingham Seward for wrapping up our August medical fundraiser last week and being able to fully pay off our Harmony Animal Rescue Clinic!

In addition there’s all the hoomans we also want to thank Alyssa F., Gail Dragon Realtor, Erin Sadler, Tabitha Johnson, Anna Delaria, Robin H, Judith S, Carmen R, Kathy DiMeo, Kim Drucker, Julie Grellman, Julia Anne Kennedy, Caitlin Scagnelli, Leslie Limerick Lockhart, Betty C, Briana S, Stecca Family, Sonya Nalewaik Glenn, Bee Currin-Rogers, Heather L, Jamie P, Stephanie Kennedy, Marlies Muller, Karen Apel Potts, Jay Woo, Leigh Elliott, Foley Opals and Gemstones, Body Restoration massage & bodywork LLC, and Patricia O.

We would LOVE to see your fur kiddos on the comments who helped all the AASR fur babies this month so please feel free to share your babies too!

We are SO grateful everyone who supported this fundraiser and all of our monthly donors here as well because together ALL of you all saved Roswell’s entire well being this month AND all the other fur kiddos can still have their medical needs met!

This is a community that truly believes in the misfits, the underdogs, the challenging cases and we are so grateful!

So we enter September with the bills paid, we are are booking fall visits for labs right now and we are ready to keep doing the work to make it possible for all these critters to live the life they always deserved to live. ā¤ļøā€šŸ©¹

Beanie is doing SO much better on his medication change!!! We reduced his prednisolone for his CLL to every other day and he seems much more able to rest AND his weaving/pacing has decreased! This is such a gift for this 15+ year old senior boy! So here is him eating his amazing breakfast (and yes he had his broth too! 🄹) and we are so grateful for everyone that believes in these little souls and helps them during there hard times!

Beanie LOVES this wet food, and he is picky so the fact it is ALSO renal for his kidney disease, in addition to his CLL, this is now something we can add to his rotation and will be such a gift! Also, being able to have the p*e pad supplies is huge because when you’re on the steroids, we gotta tee tee a bit more than usual and if you know chi chi’s - they don’t really care if they are inside or outside as senior babies; when they gotta go, they gotta go! ā¤ļø

It is because of our Amazon Angels who who send all the the things to help these fur kiddos that we have these resources to help support everyone! So truly when we say it takes a village, this is what we mean; we couldn’t do this without you. 🫶

If you want to send something to Beanie, or we have a ton of needs for everyone on the list, we will post the Amazon wishlist in the comments! 🫶

Was your Sunday a little sleepy?!

We know Finn needed a little extra snuggles and sleepy vibes today!

We love our senior babies so much and love that they get to have snuggles on a Sunday. Every pup deserves to have extra special love, but these little nuggets truly haven’t always had this so it means so much to see them so comfy and happy. šŸ’¤

This weekend has been a little busy at AASR so this morning we wanted to share some love from yesterday of Boots and her pasture friend Shea and Mr. Archie snuggled away in his favorite chair. 🐓🐾

We are so grateful for all of our procedures, planning and organization here at AASR. It took YEARS to build routines, structures and functions so that busy weekends have a flow and the fur kiddos aren’t impacted by the hoomans. Some of them if you’ve seen if you’ve followed along; we have medicine for every dog in daily containers, kitties have theirs in their baskets, all food is containers/labeled/prepped and we have individual routine plans written down for everyone too including PRNs.

A lot of what makes the world go round here isn’t the cute; it’s the making sure p*e pads are stocked for easy swap, it’s having waters ready to go and dishes turned on every morning so they are ready for dinner. It’s the sound of the laundry machine spinning and the post man coming to deliver the breathing meds from Canada that have 3 months supply to make sure we never run out; even during hurricane season.

We’ve learned from years and years of doing this what preparing and being structured can do to make a difference and it truly is everything. So, even on busy weeks if we are a little slow to post know all the fur kiddos and feathered beings will be having tons to share here shortly!

Also thank you to our monthly donors! We picked up more Costco meds this last week as well for everyone too! Figured we would share those here in our ā€œhow we prepā€ post. ā¤ļø

Happy Feline Friday and today is FABULOUS!

Firstly we raised ALL of the funds for Roswell vet bill. This is HUGE for our kitty bill because it ended up being about 2x more than planned! We planned for pre-labs, stage 1, and a stage 2. What Roswell gave us was, prelabs, urgent need for meds due to inflammation when she tried to go in the first time, plus autoimmune, plus a new heart murmur, plus needing to do SO much more than expected and due to all the previously mentioned; we choose to keep her on the table and have NO idea the $$$ but we would save her from the diseases that may be causing everything without risking her going under again with her heart. šŸ˜µā€šŸ’«

It’s been mind blowing to keep her safe, but we did the right thing and she’s healing! And because of all of you all - she’s now going to be Ok! AND we will be able to get all Beanie’s, PB and Pippin’s labs done too!

We are so thankful for all those who believe in these medical misfits and their needs! We received two donations that have COVERED the rest of our entire August medical needs! We are so grateful and so appreciative and we are no longer in the RED and we are able to do all vetting! 🐾😻

We are BEYOND grateful and cannot explain into words the amazement of being able pay our vet bills! When we have surprise vet bills, and felines are one of the ones that can get VERY expensive very quickly - smaller isn’t cheaper in fact the tinier the animal the more intense we find due to their specialized needs or issues with something like smaller mouths in the case of dental!

So, this morning we wanted to share just a quick thank you post and funds update for for Friday!

Please know we are so thankful for all of our donors and everyone who says yes to these kiddos! In fact, you can see Tusky enjoying some sardines sent from our wishlist as well in these pictures! All of these ways everyone supports these animals makes it possible for them to live their very best life, no matter what start they were given in it - we make sure they are given the best once they are here. 🐾

Archie is the most awkward boy! 🤣🤣🤣

Archie is one of our seniors and he is a special boy! He came from Clinton, NC. Someone reached out after they had a litter of puppies from a stray Shepard that wandered up on their cattle property. The other puppies were thriving, but not Archie. He was a little awkward and they didn’t know why he was a little more ā€œemotionalā€ or ā€œdifferentā€. Additionally. sister had recently been hit by a car and they didn’t have the means to take care of him, the feral Mom, the other puppies and Archie’s behaviors.

Archie came into the fold as a young pup, but then he had some resource guarding issues that showed up. In fact, this still remains his issue today as a senior pup too. When fully worked and managed he is a good boy, but he can be a little grumpy and grumbly with other dogs and very obsessive with people and toys.

As we got to know Archie’s personality we choose to have him do professional training in order to support him; this allowed him to be managed though he does need a specific environment. He also has a spinal arthritis that started VERY early in life and may contribute to some of his behavior issues. He volunteers at NC State College of Veterinary Medicine & Veterinary Hospital for multiple osteoarthritis studies and pain studies in order to help understand pain management as well.

Now Archie is a senior boy, and we’ve committed to keeping him comfortable, managed and in an environment that supports him as long as he is comfortable in his mind and body. He takes meds daily and has as needed meds for pain. We make sure he has enrichment but is not allowed to romp too hard or twist his spine. So, this game of ā€œcatch the treatsā€ is the perfect senior boy modification for the big ball throws and huge runs he wants to do but still gives him meaningful enrichment.

Sometimes it takes a lifetime of care; we only have three dogs that we’ve provided this for at AASR. All behavioral pups that have aged into their care at AASR and we will stand by them all the way to the very end of their time with us too.

That being said. Archie is SO grateful for the treats sent for him and his friends from our Amazon wishlist! This is the type of enrichment that helps these senior dogs, or any of the animals here, have enriching lives even if they need medications, accommodations and have health and/or behavioral conditions. 🫶

Beanie update; it’s been slightly better for Mr. Beanie. He is trying to eat regular, and we have reduced his steroid dose for his CLL to every other day to see if that’s causing some of the issues with how he’s feeling. Right now we will be monitoring him and seeing how he improves. His schedule is still off a bit, and we are trying to help him regulate what time things are happening and having a broth between meals and before also helps him hydrate for his meds.

His eyesight is of course fading, and we know he is struggling with time due to that and we are trying to help him make a routine. His hunger and schedule there can also be impacted by meds and needing more supports so we are hoping this helps with some of the weakness too (steroids are great at suppression but also have a ton of side effects too!).

Also - Thank you Chris Cooke for sending these Beanie supplies!

Beanie is living for the broth and it’s helping him eat and be ready for meals plus you get a little ASMR and us trying not to giggle as we watch him enjoy!

For National Dog Day we wanted to share our logo dog, Layla. 🌈 šŸ’•šŸ¾

She passed away about 5 years ago, but she is the heart behind AASR. She was the VERY best girl and helped foster SO many animals with us during her time in the world that when we started AASR we knew it was her face we wanted the world to see. This was her in her senior age, as we began to loose her, but it’s also the why we take on the seniors and the medical cases; because she would have wanted us to. She was the most loving and caring and nurturing dog we’ve ever met and we do all of this in her memory.

We miss you and love you Layla and we hope you’re proud of the work we do in your image everyday!

So that being said, we thought we’d take today to honor her and share her as we celebrate National Dog Day with all the pups at AASR! šŸ’•
