Do you remember Cleo? Little black dog, ten years old, mammary tumors, riddled with BB pellets, and a scar across her cornea.... ahhhh, now you remember. We collected donations for her spay and cancer surgery a couple of months ago, which were successful, and she was adopted shortly thereafter by a young lady attending Mizzou who said she has always wanted to adopt an older dog and give them the best life for however long they have left. Well, Cleo has been living the absolute best life! She is on top of the world and loving life. Her new mom treats her like the most precious princess that she is, because we all knew inside that timid little dog who may have occasionally showed her teeth, was a sweet girl who just needed a chance. The chance she was robbed of for ten years. We loved her and made sure she knew not all people were bad. She trusted us, she loved us, and she let her personality shine ✨️.

Do you remember King? Yellow husky mix, one blue eye that he used to swoon all the ladies. The spunky firecracker 💥 of a good boy that had all the energy but not enough time in the day.... yep, you remember him, too. Well, he was adopted by a nice young man who attends Mizzou as well. Actually, he came to meet King one Saturday and brought along a friend who happens to be the young lady who ended up adopting Cleo. Crazy, right?!?!?!?! Sometimes, things just work out when you're not even expecting them to, and that's why we do what we do. From time to time, we get updates on the pups who have been adopted, and it means so much to us seeing how far they've come.

Cleo and King get to hang out, take walks together, and play. How amazing is that???? Two dogs who came into rescue together, adopted a week apart, and were reunited outside of the sanctuary, living their absolute best lives!

At Saving Grace Animal Sanctuary Missouri, every wagging tail represents a life worth saving. Every dog who comes through our doors deserves safety, love, a full belly, and the chance to find their happily ever after. But making that happen takes more than big hearts. It takes willing volunteers! 🐶🐾

📣 WE ARE STILL LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS!

We desperately need help covering our daily feeding, potty, and playtime shifts, along with light cleaning and general upkeep to ensure our sanctuary remains a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our dogs, volunteers, and visitors.

We understand that life gets busy, schedules change, and everyone has responsibilities. But when a volunteer commits to a shift, our dogs depend on them to show up. Their meals, potty breaks, exercise, socialization, and safety depend on us.

❤️ HERE'S THE HARD TRUTH: We cannot continue pulling dogs from shelters and other situations where they desperately need saving without knowing we have the volunteer support necessary to care for them.

Every time we open our doors to another dog in need, we take on a responsibility to provide that dog with the care and attention they deserve. We want to save more lives, but we must have the hands and hearts available to make that possible.

✨ You don't have to be a superhero to make a difference. You just have to show up!

Whether you can commit to a regular weekly shift or help fill one of our most challenging time slots, your time could make all the difference in a dog's life.

After several months at the sanctuary, Athena found her happily ever after!!!! She had a test weekend with a family who was very interested in her a couple of weeks ago and did fantastic! She was able to relax, had her own space, all the attention she has ever wanted and the promise of a new life. This morning her new family picked her up and while our hearts are a little broken because we won't see that big smile or get those giant sloppy kisses everyday, we know that she will finally get to have the life she deserves in a home full of people who love her so much. Congratulations on your happily ever after Athena, Jenn and family!!!!!

🐾💕 **EXCUSE ME… ARE YOU MY FOREVER PERSON?** 💕🐾

Hi there! 👋 My name is **Kira**, and I’m a sweet, approximately 5-year-old black-and-white Border Collie mix with a whole LOT of energy, a heart full of love, and one very important dream… finding MY FOREVER FAMILY! 🏡❤️

Last weekend, one of my wonderful sanctuary volunteers took me on a little shopping adventure, and OH MY PAWS, WAS IT FUN! 🐾🛍️

🚗 First of all, I LOVE riding in the car! I sat there watching the world go by through the window, looking at all the places, people, and possibilities passing us by. And do you know what I kept hoping? That somewhere out there, my forever family was looking for ME, too. 🥹💗

🐶 I loved meeting new dogs!
👋 I loved meeting new people!
🛍️ I even got to explore the toy aisles at my new favorite pet store!

Now, you would think a girl surrounded by SO MANY toys would pick out her favorite, right? WRONG! 😂 There were just too many exciting things to sniff, see, and investigate! I was having so much fun that I couldn't make up my mind!

So, I've decided something… **I think I need my very own best friend to help me pick out toys!** 💕🐾

Maybe that's YOU?

I'm looking for the forever kind of love. The kind where I'm not just a dog passing through, but YOUR dog. The one who gets excited when you walk through the door. The one who goes on adventures with you, makes you laugh with my happy personality, and curls up knowing I've finally found my place in this big world. ❤️🏡

I'm ready to share my energy, my affection, my goofy little personality, and ALL the love my heart has to give. I don't need a fancy life. I just want a family who will love me, include me in their adventures, and promise that this time, it's FOREVER. 🥹💞

Are your pets protected from heartworms? Did you know they should be on a preventative all year around? Yep, even in the fall and winter. Indoor cats and dogs..... yep, they're at risk, too. If you've ever had a pet that's had heartworms, you know the expense of treatments, the painful shots your pet endures and the ways it makes some pets ill during those treatments. While there are ways to treat heartworms and give your pet a few more years of life, it can also create issues with other organs. Prevention adds up but the peace of mind knowing that you're protecting your furry friends is priceless.

At Saving Grace Animal Sanctuary Missouri, we pride ourselves on the love and care we give to the dogs who come through our doors and one of the first things we make sure of is that each one is started on heartworm prevention. With dogs of multiple sizes, that expense adds up quickly. We rely on our volunteers and our community to help us save as many dogs as possible and give them a new lease on life. If you're able to donate towards heartworm prevention, we would greatly appreciate it. If you're unable to give, please share this post and help us reach as many people as possible. Meet Nala, your life size teddy bear! 🧸

Nala is a 2.5-year-old Great Pyrenees/Rottweiler mix with a heart just as big as her beautiful self!

This girl is the definition of affectionate. She knows a few basic commands, including “sit” and “in” when it’s time to go into her kennel. She’s incredibly smart, and she has so much potential to learn new commands, tricks, and skills!

And can we talk about how gorgeous she is? 😍 With her distinctive Rottweiler markings and fluffy Great Pyrenees coat, Nala looks like a life size teddy bear.

And while we’re are talking about teddy bears, if you sit down, don’t be surprised when Nala comes over to rest her head or her whole body on you. ❤️ Who needs a body pillow when you could have a real life version that comes with its own built in heater? 😂

A few more amazing things about Nala; she loves being outdoors, soaking up the sunshine, and enjoying the fresh air. ☀️ She walks wonderfully on leash, which is something to celebrate when you’re talking about a girl this big!

At just 2.5 years old, Nala has so much life, love, and companionship to give. She’s ready to find someone who will appreciate her big personality and extra large cuddles.

If you have a soft spot for giant teddy bears and an even bigger heart, Nala just might be the dog for you! 🐾
