Garden update!
Pole beans, sugar snap peas, sage, basil (green and purple), thyme, tomatoes, and multicolored peppers are all planted in the garden!
All are looking very good!
There are even some flowers to help attract our pollinating friends to ensure a big crop!
If you would like to visit the garden please do! It’s such a special opportunity for the kids and community!

A pallet of soil was donated by a McIntire Elementary School family so today the big bed and buckets were filled!
Soon plants will be added to the big bed! The recycled red feed buckets will grow Kentucky pole beans (hopefully)!
The smaller planter box has perineal flowers that have started to wake after their winter slumber.
If you and your kiddo(s) are interested in helping get this garden growing please message/comment you would like additional information.

Spring is soon to come! We’ve been looking at alternatives for traditional watering that will help during the hot summer days. This ancient way of watering has been used for thousands of years.
We’ll try this in the garden!

Make your own ollas for only $2! This ancient form of irrigation is efficient, economical and versatile, plus they will last you a lifetime.

Hello 👋 We will soon be sending information home about the newly formed McIntire Elementary Garden Club, but this page is where you will be able to stay the most updated!
The 5th grade students have a very important mission and purpose for this garden space and they need your help to get going! This is their “gift” to ensure future McIntire Students, Staff and the community to use and enjoy.
*We need to meet as a group, please like this page so we can stay in touch!
Please message this page if your student would be interested in participating! Please tag fellow parents/caretakers so this club gets bigger and we can get growing.
Their vision is to plant a community garden and share the bounty with food banks, school, students to help ensure fresh produce is widely available.
They will sell some bounty to help become self sustaining.
Some bonus aspects to the garden club are almost impossible to measure, but here are just a few!
The MEGC will help increase knowledge of the importance of agriculture, teamwork, and giving back in ways the individual students are able.
Gain lifelong lessons that only a garden can teach. Grow where you’re planted is the normal saying, but some plants need a bit more TLC to thrive. 😄
We will learn together and hope you will join our efforts!

We’re excited to make this Facebook official! The McIntire Elementary Garden Club is looking forward to get growing spring of 2022! The garden bounty will be donated to local families and organizations to ensure fresh produce is available for all. The students that participate will learn lifelong skills that only can be learned when “playing in the dirt”.
A portion of the garden bounty will potentially be sold to help sustain the clubs mission of giving, growing and learning to ensure continued success year after year.
For now, we’re focused on getting the raised beds purchased and filled with fertile soil. The kids want to be ready to plant for a bountiful harvest to fulfill their vision.
Stay tuned for additional info!
