As I sat in Sunday services this, week the speaker spoke about gratitude. He quoted from The Night Before the Climb by Jenn Drummond that really hit home for me.

Jenn is a mountaineer, and she talked about her fear before a big climb, how her mind runs wild with all the what ifs. As she went on, she talked about one night as her thoughts were spiraling, she decided to write down three things she was grateful for. She said within minutes everything shifted, her breathing slowed, and panic softened.

“That night I realized something powerful: gratitude isn’t just a feeling. It’s a physiological signal of safety. And when your body feels safe…your courage returns.” She goes on to say that gratitude changes our chemistry not our circumstances. “Researchers at UCLA found that gratitude activates the part of the brain that regulates emotion and decision-making while calming the fear center. In plain language, when you practice gratitude, you literally rewire your brain to think clearly under stress.” Courage is the ability to act despite fear not the absence of fear and gratitude creates the conditions to make courage possible.

As many of you do, I have a lot of what ifs that I have and currently battle with myself. Many of us are frightened of what the future holds in our personal lives, the countries we live in, our communities and even the future of the Red Hat Society. If we can all take a moment to express gratitude, those fears can turn into courage. That courage can help us to stand firm when the easy thing would be to quit.

I continue to express my gratitude for the leadership that has taken this society from a small tea gathering to the wonderful sisterhood it is today. We would not be where we are without our esteemed Exalted Queen Mother Sue Ellen Cooper. With a small gift of friendship to her friend Linda Murphy, she opened the door for all us to learn how to play again. The impact this has had on myself and so many women over the years and across the world can not be expressed in words other than Thank You.

Gratitude is remembering you already have all you need, express your gratitude often and with feeling, be grateful for at least three things and feel the calm and courage rise this season.

Thanksgiving invites us to embrace the season with gratitude, recognizing the meaningful moments and all we are grateful for this year and beyond.

Happy Thanksgiving to you all and your families.

Theme: Wrapping Up 2025 (With Heart & Hatitude)

As the year comes to a sparkling close, we find ourselves reflecting on the joy, sisterhood, and unforgettable moments that made 2025 one for the scrapbooks. From Worldwide Hoots to birthday celebrations, from pinkie milestones to the historic inauguration of our Queen President Michelle Lee, this year has been filled with laughter, lace, leadership, and legacy.

But before we tie a bow on 2025, we need YOU!
Your stories are the heartbeat of the Red Hat Society, and December is when we gather every shining memory to preserve our shared history. So, sisters, we are asking very sweetly…
Please send us your chapter stories, photos, and especially those beloved tea-time moments!

Whether it’s a table set with floral china, a whimsical themed gathering, a holiday tea, or the giggles shared over a warm cup, we want to feature the magic you create.
If your chapter hosted something meaningful, memorable, mischievous, or marvelously over-the-top… we want it.
If you have a story that deserves to be told… we want it.
If you have a picture of a teacup, a hat, a smile, or all three together… we definitely want it.

Help us close out this year with the warmth and wonder only Red & Pink Hatters can bring.

Send your stories to Hatquarters and let’s celebrate everything that made 2025 extraordinary.
With gratitude, sparkle, and a full teapot,
— Your Hatquarters Team
