The Fullerton Interfaith Ministerial Association was organized some 40 years ago by local clergy who wanted to work together for the be
tterment of their community. Over the years, they dedicated themselves to helping others by creating Pathways of Hope (formerly Fullerton Interfaith Emergency Service) and other organizations which have now become independent of FIMA. Along with providing our members with opportunities for friendship, fellowship, and collegiality, our main focus is to offer several interfaith worship opportunities to the greater Fullerton community throughout the year. These include the National Day of Prayer, an Interfaith Thanksgiving Service, and a Longest Night Service. FIMA is also the sponsoring organization for the annual Fullerton CROP Hunger Walk held every year in April. We welcome all eligible clergy/lay leaders and organizations to join us! In this age of interfaith dialogue and heightened awareness of our given oneness because all human beings are created in the image of God, the purpose of FIMA shall be:
· to foster a climate which facilitates members and all faith communities in promoting dialogue, understanding, and mutual response to shared concerns
· to invite the sharing of insights and wisdom concerning the ways to nurture the spiritual growth of both ourselves and the members of our respective faith communities with a vision toward promoting interfaith understanding, cooperation, good will, and harmony
· to challenge the leaders of Fullerton and North Orange County to address and act upon issues of social, ethical, and environmental importance in our community. Membership in FIMA
As stated in our Constitution and Bylaws (adopted March 2003, revised May 2009), membership in the Fullerton Interfaith Ministerial Association is open to the following persons:
· All ordained clergy of any congregation or religious organization within the city of Fullerton, California or surrounding communities.
· A designated lay representative of any congregation or religious organization within the city of Fullerton, California or surrounding communities.
· Other ordained clergy who live and/or work in the city of Fullerton or surrounding communities (e.g. chaplains, educators, retired clergy, etc.)
