It is so wonderful that we can partner with local community businesses and non profits to provide free books for children. Every year we send local kids home with a book so they can read over the summer. It is such a treat to bring joy to so many children. Thank you to our wonderful partners: Education Foundation of the Summit, BGV Gives, and Next Page Books!

Thanks to a collaboration with philanthropic community partners, the Summit School District has amassed and distributed over 800 new books to third- through fifth-graders across all six county elementary schools to encourage summer reading. The...

Wow!!! We are so thrilled to support these two bright students! Josie and Julianna are scholarship winners. Rotary has multiple outlets to support our youth. Scholarships is one project we take a lot of pride in. We don’t just support students just out of highs school, we support local adults who want career development.

One idea. One project. Real community impact.

The Summit County Rotary Club continues to show what intentional service looks like in action—with a powerful new addition to their plastics initiative.

Introducing their newly wrapped collection van.
Thanks to a generous grant from High Country Conservation, led by plastics champion David Hicks, the club now has a dedicated vehicle to expand their weekly stretchy plastic recycling efforts.

Here’s why this matters:
• Over 10,000 pounds of plastic diverted from local landfills
• Weekly volunteer-driven collection, sorting, and recycling
• Partnership with TREX turning waste into something lasting
• Recycled benches placed across Summit County—a visible reminder of community impact

And this project goes beyond environmental wins.

It’s building something even more powerful: connection.
Weekly collection events have brought in new volunteers—and new Rotarians—proving that service is one of the strongest ways to grow a community.

The takeaway?
Most meaningful Rotary projects start the same way:
One member sees a need → takes action → invites others in → and builds something bigger than expected.

That’s Rotary at its best.

👏 Congratulations to the Summit County Rotary Club for continuing to lead with purpose—and for showing what’s possible when service meets strategy.

Gratitude is extended to Spencer Wilson of CBS for featuring Rotary Club of Summit County, during which our president Judi spoke about the county's mounting need for asistance due to the dry winter.

A record-low snow year in Summit County hasn't just impact ski resorts and water levels, it also hit one of the local community's biggest fundraisers.
