The USEF Business Convention on August 9th was filled with incredible businesses, inspiring speakers, amazing food, meaningful connections, and so much energy from start to finish.

A huge THANK YOU to all of our vendors, attendees, speakers, sponsors, and volunteers who helped make this event such an amazing success. We truly could not have done it without each and every one of you! 🤍

We’re so grateful for everyone who came out to support local businesses, connect with our community, and be part of what we’re building at USEF.

Our second Risala event this past weekend brought the community together at Woodward Park Library for another evening of open conversation, thoughtful questions, and shared learning as part of USEF’s Anti-Islamophobia Campaign.

This month’s discussion focused on how to explain Islam to an atheist, creating space to explore different perspectives, address common misconceptions, and encourage respectful dialogue in an interactive, approachable setting.

Thank you so much to everyone who came, participated, and made the conversation so engaging. We had such a great time with our Jubilee-style interactive discussion and hearing the different perspectives in the room.

A special thank you to Dr. Saad Sheikh for leading the talk and helping facilitate such a thoughtful conversation.

Risala is a monthly event, and we’re excited to continue creating spaces where people of all backgrounds can ask questions, learn from one another, and build greater understanding in our community.

‼️ Applications are open for the USEF Research Scholarship, Fall 2026‼️

Awarded: $250 as a Research Assistant, or $1,000 as a Research Coordinator, with the title on your CV.

What it actually is:

🏥 You join a live community health study here in Fresno, built with researchers at Stanford, UCSF, UC San Diego and Fresno State. You are in the room for all of it, from choosing what gets measured to writing the report.

📖 That report goes into a peer-reviewed publication and into a grant application. It does not sit in a drawer.

👩‍🔬 You finish the semester with a named role on a real study, an advisor who supervised you every week and can write about your work in specifics, and research on a community that barely appears in the literature at all. Your own.
