⭐ NHCA Central Valley Vice President
Monica Ignorosa, and I’m a first-generation Mexican American who has been raised in the United States since I was three years old. Growing up, I watched my parents work incredibly hard—often juggling multiple jobs and opposite schedules—just to make ends meet. They pushed themselves through English classes and trade schools to create better opportunities for our family, and their determination has had a lasting impact on me.
As a little girl, I always dreamed of owning my own home. Seeing my parents’ sacrifices and resilience shaped the way I view hard work, growth, and what it takes to build something meaningful. Today, I’m a full-time, licensed realtor, and I carry that same mindset into my career.
I’m passionate about helping others who may feel like homeownership is out of reach. I believe that with the right resources, guidance, and a clear plan, it’s possible for more people to achieve that goal—even if it takes time and extra effort. My goal is to connect people with what they need to take that next step and feel confident in the process.
I joined this organization because I want to continue growing, learning, and finding new ways to better serve the people around me. There’s no shortage of opportunity—just a need for more creativity, collaboration, and support. I’m excited to be part of a team that shares that mindset and is focused on helping others move forward, scale, and elevate their businesses to the next level.

šŸ”ØNHCA Central Valley Education Director

Mel Casey is a construction and real estate professional with deep roots in California’s San Joaquin Valley. Raised on a dairy farm, he learned the values of discipline and hard work early in life. He has lived in Riverdale, California since 2001 and takes pride in raising his four children in the community he serves.

Inspired by his father’s legacy as a custom home builder, Mel built a career grounded in craftsmanship and hands‑on experience. He earned his California real estate license in 2015, giving him a understanding of both construction and property markets. From 2016-2020, he owned and operated a homebuilding franchise. In 2021, he helped establish Casey Bros. Custom Homes, LLC, a company known for quality workmanship.

Mel also operated MSC Home Restorations, LLC, renovating and selling homes throughout California and strengthening his expertise in property evaluation and residential improvement.

He serves as chairman on the Land Acquisition Committee and the Board of Directors for Habitat for Humanity Greater Fresno, supporting efforts to expand affordable housing.

He worked across multiple trades and helped grow a finish carpentry company into a full‑service construction business, experience that refined his leadership in estimating, project management, and operations. Over the course of his career, he has impacted more than 100 families through custom homebuilding, renovations, and real estate services.

Outside of work, Mel is active in music ministry. In 2017, he and his family formed Casey Family Music, a gospel group that performs at churches and community events. When he is not working or performing, Mel enjoys traveling and spending time with his family.

2026 State of Hispanics in Construction Report!

The future of American construction is being built by Hispanic hands, and the numbers prove it. The NHCA 2026 State of Hispanics in Construction Report reveals a workforce story that demands attention: Hispanic workers now represent 31% of the entire U.S. construction industry, accounting for an extraordinary 67% of all net new workers added between 2018 and 2024. Nearly half of all general laborers and one in three skilled trades workers are Hispanic, making this community the backbone of the industry's productive capacity at a time when labor shortages are reshaping the nation's ability to build homes, roads, and infrastructure. This report goes beyond the numbers, it captures a defining demographic shift, documents the structural challenges that remain, and makes the case for why investing in Hispanic workforce development isn't just the right thing to do, it's essential to the future of construction in America.

NHCA Central Valley Education Director:
Juan Aldalpe, with 25 years in education, I’m passionate about helping students connect what they learn in school to real-world careers. I currently serve as the Business Engagement Coordinator for Fresno Unified School District, supporting the Career Technical Education (CTE) department. My focus is on building industry partnerships and creating hands-on learning experiences that help students explore careers and develop the skills they need to succeed. In addition to my work in K–12, I’ve spent over a decade teaching in higher ed. I was an Adjunct Business Faculty member at the University of Phoenix for 12 years, and I now teach at Fresno City College and American Public University. I love bringing practical insights into the classroom and helping students understand how business concepts apply in everyday life and work. I also bring an entrepreneurial perspective to everything I do. For 25 years, I’ve owned and operated a successful mobile DJ and photo booth business. Running a business has sharpened my skills in customer service, event planning, and business management. It has also given me plenty of real-world stories to share with students. My goal is to help prepare the next generation of professionals by bridging the gap between education and industry. I’m always open to connecting with others who are passionate about education, workforce development, and building strong communities through collaboration.
