Important Clarification for Members

This meeting is NOT an amalgamated meeting.

This monthly membership meeting is for our company’s employees only. It is led by our Chairman and is specific to our bargaining unit.

Members from Crescent should not attend this meeting.

Crescent employees must contact their own Chairman and Board for information regarding amalgamated meetings, including dates, times, and location.

According to the bylaws, amalgamated meetings are to be held every third Tuesday of the month at 3:30 PM. However, members should confirm details directly with their Board to ensure accuracy.

The UAW Local 959 Board consists of:
• Sylvia Marquez – President
• Luis Franco – Vice President
• Reggie Jones – Financial Secretary
• Michelle Smith – Recording Secretary

If you are unsure which meeting applies to you, please reach out to your appropriate leadership team before attending.

We want everyone in the right room, at the right meeting, with the right leadership — that’s how we stay organized, effective, and strong as a union.

🚨 UNION MEETING – POSTPONED 🚨

Union family, this one is important.
We’re asking ALL members to show up and stay informed.

📆 FEBRUARY TBA
⏰ 3:00 PM
📍 UAW Hall
209 N. Stone St., Fremont

We’ll be discussing:
• What’s currently happening between company leadership and union leadership
• Ongoing union actions and next steps
• That attendance handout the company passed out — what it actually means and how it affects members

There’s been a lot of talk. This meeting is about facts, not rumors.
This is your chance to hear accurate information, ask questions, and make sure you understand what’s going on and what the union is doing.

👊 An informed membership is a strong membership.
If it affects your job, it’s worth your time.

👉 Please plan to attend and spread the word.

📅 The new date will be announced ASAP, so keep an eye out.

Thank you for your understanding—and as always, stay informed and stay united. 💪🏽✊🏽

📘 KNOW YOUR RIGHTS — POST #6

Why the Union Uses Process (Not Panic)

Know Your Rights

When concerns arise, the Union uses:
• contract language
• the grievance process
• arbitration when necessary

These steps exist to protect members as a whole.

As shared earlier, Union representatives have already taken formal action regarding the attendance policy.

Staying informed and patient allows that process to work.

📘 KNOW YOUR RIGHTS — POST #5

What To Do Before Discipline Escalates

Know Your Rights

If you’re facing a situation involving:
• overtime
• attendance
• discipline questions

Don’t assume.
Don’t panic.

Involve a steward or union representative early.

Early conversations often prevent long-term consequences.

📘 KNOW YOUR RIGHTS — POST #4

Progressive Discipline Is a Protection

Know Your Rights

Progressive discipline exists to:
• allow correction
• give members a chance to improve
• prevent sudden termination

Article 41 includes:
• defined discipline steps
• step-reduction after clean time

These protections matter — and only work when members understand them.

📘 KNOW YOUR RIGHTS — POST #3

Overtime Discipline ≠ Attendance Discipline

Know Your Rights

Not all discipline falls under the same rules.

Overtime-related discipline follows Article 41.
Attendance-related issues are handled separately.

Mixing the two can cause misunderstandings that lead to avoidable problems.

If you’re unsure which applies, ask questions before reacting.

📘 KNOW YOUR RIGHTS — POST #2

What Article 41 Actually Covers

Know Your Rights

Article 41 of our contract is titled Refusal to Work Forced Overtime.

It applies specifically to:
• Forced overtime
• Leaving while scheduled for overtime
• Refusing voluntary overtime after signing up

Article 41 does not:
• create a general attendance system
• apply to regular shifts
• eliminate progressive discipline

Reading articles in context matters.

📘 KNOW YOUR RIGHTS — POST #1

Contract vs. Company Policy (Start Here)

Know Your Rights

A reminder for all members:

A Collective Bargaining Agreement is negotiated, voted on, and binding.
A company policy is written and issued by management.

Policies must follow the contract — not override it.

When something new is rolled out, it’s important to slow down and ask:
• Is this contract language?
• Or is this company policy?

Knowing which is which helps prevent confusion and unnecessary discipline.
