Fremont NAACP Unit 3217 We are non-partisan but NOT non- participative. Join us, we need you! The NAACP Toledo chapter organized the Fremont Chapter in 1955.

We fight discrimination and injustice, register voters, offer needs based scholarships, unite the community, impact legislation, We are advocates for equity and equality. The NAACP insures the political, educational, social, and economic equality of minority groups and citizens, achieves equality of rights and eliminates race prejudice among the citizens.

The Fremont NAACP Unit 3217B, appreciates the City of Fremont, Ohio for their responsive and decisive action to terminate a captain of our Fire Department for his overt racist statements. In addition, we recognize the inclusive environment fostered by our Fremont Fire Department, giving voice to report harmful and or racist statements impacting community members. We thank you for taking this matter seriously and aiding in the continual building of trust as we work together to ensure a safe and inclusive environment in our community.

As I was finally able to "free my mind" this evening, I told George, I've a Juneteenth-Dadteenth bucket left and not sure who it....oh my goodness, it belonged to CJ Burel and I immediately called to apologize. He told me it was ok, because I was getting old...lol. Please know you are appreciated for each hat you wear, the lives you touch, change, speak into, mentor, coach, and when I call upon you, you are there. You are recognized and appreciated.
Yes, life life'd today as I was firing/missfiring on many cylinders. Trying to compartmentalize, embrace mindfulness and our cohesiveness.

Fremont...the Mont and surrounding communities, Fam and Cuzins, we can not end this evening without letting you know how we greatly appreciate your supporting our 2026 Juneteenth Celebration. We kmow it signifies our date of freedom, we also know our reality is, our guard can never be down and complacency is not optional to maintain what we have and push for full equity. Today our united cohesiveness was encouraging.
Our donors and sponsors, Ubuntu (because of you, we are), the vendors, resource tables, unit workers, Negro League Reenactment players, the Fremont Fire Dept, Police Dept, Rec Dept, and Parks (your attentiveness to us, despite all 3 events on Front St. was admired), and OSH Patrol. Thank you! Nothing is taken for granted.
