Weaning kittens has to be my least favorite stage. Even more so with Penelope because she's a swimmer, meaning she dives head first into her bowl. This also means a bath after every meal 🤦‍♀️

Despite around the clock tube feeding, another sweet little soul just wasn't strong enough to pull through. The odds were stacked against him as 60 to 90% of preemie kittens don't make it.

The last little guy seems to have pretty good energy so far. Wish us luck 🤞

I've been tube feeding these two little guys since yesterday afternoon and we are finally approaching normal newborn kitten weight! I suspect they were premies because even after pumping them full of formula for over 24 hours, we're only at 70 grams and 72 grams. We have a long road ahead of us, little dudes!

I lost one sweet little baby 💔 it wasn't terribly surprising, she was lethargic when I got her and I'm not sure what her story was before she got to Dr. Capps. Her brothers are continuing with tube feeding in hopes I can pull them through.

We are off to a rough start. The crew at Dr. Capps office wasn't able to get them to eat and I haven't either. While tube feeding is a valuable skill, I still hate having to do it. All 3 baby voids are being tube fed at this time.

It's okay, I didn't need sleep anyway 🥴

My rescue pal Magen got a call from Capps Veterinary Clinic looking for a place for 3 "tiny" kittens. So now I have 3 newborns with umbilical cords still attached (under 5 days old). With that said, I probably won't be doing anymore intakes for a bit.
