Denise, Paula, and Sara attended the Ottawa County Transitional Housing Inc. Deal or No Deal fundraising event in support of Ruth Ann’s House. As an organization, we were proud to help support this event as RAH works to provide residency and supportive services to women and their children who have escaped an abusive situation. Denise and Paula also walked away as lucky winners!

We are deeply honored to receive the Non-Profit of the Year award from the Chamber of Commerce of Sandusky County. Our service group of dedicated women is passionate about improving the lives of women and girls in our community through service, support, and volunteerism.

Whether we’re working to support local women, girls, or families, partnering with community organizations, or helping those in need, we are proud to serve many and collaborate with numerous organizations throughout our area.

We sincerely appreciate this recognition! Thank you to our Sisters for your ongoing hard work and commitment to our community. Thanks to all of you, we are proud to accept this award.

Today, May 28, we observe World Menstrual Hygiene Day, and our Soroptimist clubs are united in raising awareness and exploring collaborative actions to address this important issue.

What is period poverty❓
The inability to afford or access menstrual products, hygiene facilities, and education to manage menstrual health.

What causes period poverty?

‼️Stigma: Cultural taboos and misconceptions about menstruation that lead to shame and misinformation.

‼️High Cost of Menstrual Products: Many women and girls cannot afford sanitary products due to financial constraints. They are taxed as luxury items in many places despite being a necessity.

‼️Lack of Water and Sanitation Facilities: Inadequate access to clean water and sanitation hampers proper menstrual hygiene management.

Sara Shoemaker serves as VP, Marketing Officer at Croghan Colonial Bank, where she brings more than 16 years of marketing and financial services experience focused on collaboration, innovation, and community growth. Through her leadership and strategic approach, she has helped lead impactful campaigns, support organizational growth, and strengthen community partnerships throughout the region.

Sara has played an active role in supporting the Chamber through her involvement on the Marketing Committee, helping contribute ideas, expertise, and leadership to initiatives including the Social Media Summit and Women’s Leadership Luncheon. Beyond the Chamber, she is also deeply involved with organizations including Soroptimist of Fremont, Ohio and the Sandusky County Community Foundation, continuing to make a meaningful impact across the community.

Through her leadership, strategic planning, and commitment to strong relationships, she continues to make an impact both professionally and throughout the community.
Tamara is deeply involved across Sandusky County, serving as a board member for the Sandusky County Chamber, a past president and current board member of Soroptimist, a Rotary member, and a mentor through Sandusky County Positive People. Her passion for empowering women, supporting local initiatives, and giving back has helped raise thousands of dollars for scholarships and community causes throughout the region.
