And the People’s Choice Award goes to… Saturday’s Distractions! 🏆

Congratulations to artists Lee Leuning & Sherri Treeby ()! Their sculpture, Saturday’s Distractions, was selected as the People’s Choice Award winner during Fremont’s first year of the Sculpture Walk.

The winner was announced during Saturday’s Fall Gallery Walk after community members had the chance to explore the sculptures and cast their votes for a favorite. Thank you to everyone who explored, voted, and helped make Fremont’s first Sculpture Walk such a memorable experience, and congratulations again to Lee & Sherri!

It all starts TOMORROW! 🎶🌳

Kick off a full weekend of creativity in Fremont with pARTy in the Park featuring Dylan Bloom tomorrow night from 7–10 PM at John C. Fremont Park. The concert is FREE and open to everyone!

This Saturday, October 3, help us choose the 2026 Fremont Sculpture Walk Community Favorite!

While you’re enjoying the Fall Gallery Walk, stop by the Fremont Area Art Association between 11 AM–4 PM to cast your vote for the sculpture that caught your eye, made you think, or simply became your favorite.

The winning artist will receive $500 and will be announced at 7 PM that evening, prior to the High Heel musical performance in the Ilgenfritz parking lot at 4th St. & Park Ave.

We're wrapping up our Friday Feature series by highlighting Control Issues by artist Clark Martinek (), a sculpture that challenges us to think about how we spend our time and attention.

Who—or what—is really in control?

Inspired by video game culture, Control Issues asks an important question: How much control do we really have? While technology connects us in incredible ways, this thought-provoking piece encourages us to occasionally set the controller down, step outside, and reconnect with the people, places, and experiences all around us.

Public art has a way of bringing us outdoors, sparking conversation, and helping us see our community through a different lens.

It's great when we can get together! Collaboration and consensus building is what makes us strong.
Recently, the SWAN member communities gathered to review all that boring stuff - policies, procedures, contracts, etc. But it is so much easier when you have a great group of people to do it with.
