Bibi and Pete are the two newest members of the Ben’s Place family. They’re best buddies.

While Bibi usually seeks Pete out, today it was Pete’s turn. While Bibi was getting her morning cuddles, Pete snuggled in beside/on top of her and was soon fast asleep. Bibi didn’t seem to mind ❤️!

There are plenty of heartwarming moments at Ben’s Place, but seeing the dogs form friendships with one another, seeing them bond and enjoy each other’s company. . .those are some of my favorites.

Nothing to see here, just Jerry practicing his downward dog!

There was a time when Jerry was abandoned, alone, practically invisible in a concrete shelter cage. In six months not one visit, not one application, not one person willing to give him a home.

But then, almost two years ago, I brought him home to Ben’s Place.

Since day one he’s been the most laid back, happy, easy going goofball of a House Hippo you could ever hope to meet.

He antics make me laugh, and he makes my heart glad. Time with him is a gift and I am blessed that I get to share my life with him.

Even if he is a great big Do**us!

Pete (formerly Smokey) Update:

Pete figured out pretty quickly that the couch is a REALLY nice place to rest!

After spending 3 months in the shelter, he deserves it!

It’s been 4 days since Pete came home to Ben’s Place, and you couldn’t have asked for a smoother transition. He’s taken to his new life without a hitch. He’s pretty independent and spends much of his time roaming the yard, but after doing his thing all day, he isn’t shy about hopping up on the couch beside me and his new doggie family.

Thank you CNY SPCA for taking such good care of him for so long!

RESCUE DAY!!!!

Say hello to Pete (formerly Smokey). He is a 14 year old Jack Russell mix, and the newest pack member at Ben’s Place.

Thank you, CNY SPCA, for taking good care of him until he found his way home to Ben’s Place.

I hate that I need to write this, but I recently learned that scammers have been active in the comments section of this page. Followers are being tagged and encouraged to buy Ben’s Place merchandise.

THIS IS A SCAM.

To be clear, I do not sell/have never sold any type of swag or merchandise. If you’re tagged by someone claiming to do so, it’s a scam.

Many of these fraudulent comments appear on obituary posts.

I try very hard not to judge people.

Bibi, however, has no such qualms. She is appalled and cannot adequately express her disgust at the idea of someone trying to make money on a post announcing the passing of a beloved pet.

Six months ago Reece lived a life of neglect.

Alone in an empty house. Hour after hour, day after day, week after week.

His life is much different now.

Last week Reece had an adventure. He spent the week in Syracuse with Yoanna.

He slept on her couch. He walked with her to work. He kept her company in her office. He met lots of new people.

I met up with them on the shores of Skaneateles Lake, where he chomped on the waves and hiked with Yoanna and I and his buddy Max.

After his week of adventures, he came home, had supper, and PASSED OUT on the couch!

Reece is a wonderful dog. Loving, friendly, smart, affectionate.

Seeing him today, living his best life, fills me with joy.

What a blessing it is to share a life with this sweet boy.
