🏠 LIHEAP APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN! 🔥

Northwestern Illinois Community Action Agency (NICAA) is now accepting LIHEAP applications for eligible households.

📅 Priority Period 1 appointments began October 5, 2026, for:
• Adults age 60+
• Individuals with a disability
• Families with children age 5 and under
• Households with disconnected utilities, a disconnect notice, or less than 25% propane remaining

📞 Appointments are available IN PERSON or BY PHONE.
🚶 WALK-INS ARE AVAILABLE EVERY FRIDAY! No appointment is needed for Friday walk-in assistance. Locations and times vary, so check the current outreach schedule.

📋 IMPORTANT: Please bring ALL required documentation to your appointment. If required documents are missing, you will need to reschedule.

🗓️ Priority Period 2: All other income-eligible households may begin applying November 1, 2026.

NICAA is working to make it easier for households throughout Stephenson and Jo Daviess Counties to apply for energy assistance this season. 💙🏠

Eligible Priority Period 1 households can now schedule appointments beginning October 5, 2026. All other income-eligible households may begin applying November 1, 2026.

📍 Prefer a Walk-In?
NICAA will also offer Friday walk-in and outreach locations throughout our service area from October through December. No appointment is needed for the dates and locations listed on the attached schedule. Walk-ins are first-come, first-served.

🔥 LIHEAP ONLINE APPOINTMENT SCHEDULING IS NOW AVAILABLE! 🔥

NICAA clients can now schedule their LIHEAP in-person appointments online! Appointments begin October 5, 2026.

📅 Priority Period 1 is scheduling NOW for:
✔️ Adults age 60 and older
✔️ Individuals with a disability
✔️ Families with children age 5 and under
✔️ Households that are disconnected, have a disconnection notice, or have less than 25% propane

📅 Priority Period 2: All other income-eligible households may begin applying November 1, 2026.

⚠️ PLEASE NOTE: Our online appointment calendar is only available 60 days out from the current date. If you do not see an appointment date you need, please check back as additional dates become available.

📄 DON’T FORGET YOUR DOCUMENTS! You MUST bring all required documentation to your appointment. If you do not have the required documents at the time of your appointment, you will need to reschedule.

📢 NICAA MAIN OFFICE CLOSURE NOTICE

NICAA’s Main Office will be closed on Monday, September 14, 2026, for staff Professional Development Training.

We will reopen on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, and resume normal business hours.
