We have been helping cats and caring for cats all our lives; and the overwhelming problem of TOO MANY cats and kittens is hard to ignore. The answer is to spay and neuter cats, and unfortunately there are limited options for that at an affordable price in Cattaraugus County. Our primary goal is to help reduce the over-population of feral/community cats and kittens by assisting residents to (TNVR)

trap, hold, transport, spay/neuter, return and manage their own cats and those cats they are aware of that are living in feral colonies. Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return (TNVR) A method used to humanely and effectively manage the feral cat over-population .The process involves live-trapping cats, having them spayed/neutered, ear-tipped and vaccinated, then returning them back to their home. TNVR is a very controversial program and everyone has their thoughts as to how far is too far, in certain circumstances or if TNVR is even a viable option. Please be aware the world of TNVR changes according to local laws, veterinarian beliefs and where the moon is in the sky. Cats memes are posted because, let’s face it, cats are adorable, funny, and even if feral, loving. But it’s not all fun and games, the real world of TNVR is ugly. It’s an endless fight for what we believe to be right. Humans have failed cats and we’re now trying to help, all in our own way. There will be posts that will stir up feelings. If you don’t care for a post, please scroll on. If you feel the need to argue or bully, go somewhere else to do it.

While some feral cats seem to fair well without human intervention, many of them may have short, painful lives and often die from disease, malnutrition, exposure, car accidents, or predation. People who regularly help feral cats are usually referred to as caregivers or humane trappers.
***Caretakers typically provide the essentials for the cats in the form of clean and regular food and water. Some caregivers will create appropriate shelters for the cats depending on the environment and location.
***Caregivers may also trap the feral cats or work with a humane trapper to get the cats safely trapped so they can be spayed or neutered and receive basic medical care. They will be returned to the area that they were trapped, but may also try to relocate if the cat's are living in an unsafe setting.

Why does my cat like to sleep on my head?

Okay, I will admit, not every cat does this. But some do. And when they do sleep on your head, they REALLY sleep on your head. Oddly enough, my Maine C**n mix, Mr. Purple, will do this, and with all that hair of his, it makes it a bit difficult to breathe, let alone sleep. But just as cat owners do, I let him do it because I love him and it makes him happy. But do you know why cats sleep on your head? Well, there are two reasons, actually. The first reason being that this is the warmest part of your body where heat escapes from. And as well all know good and well, cats simply love to be warm. The second reason? Because cats do not like to be disturbed when they’re sleeping, and your head is much less likely to move versus your arms and legs. Some also speculate that your cat likes the smell of your shampoo, but I’m not to certain on that one…
