Theater education is truly something special. These talented kiddos are performing their original musical “The Trouble With The Thompson Triplets” tonight at 6pm at The Garden Theater!

This special project was made possible through the Jewell Arts Program, a private art foundation dedicated to promoting all of the arts for students, & by the J. Bernard Foundation. We are so grateful to be doing this work with their support. Thank you also to our hosts at The Garden Theater, we are so lucky to have you in Benzie!

Join us for the FREE performance of The Trouble with the Thompson Triplets, an original musical by Frankfort Elementary students, with help from Teacher Leo & Teacher Tim! For the past couple months, our young cast has been meeting after school on Thursdays to create this musical out of thin air! They dreamed up the characters, the story, and even helped write the script and songs. And now, they get to share it with all of YOU! Family, friends, and community members are all welcome to join us June 4th at The Garden Theater. The show starts at 6:00pm sharp, so make sure to arrive early to grab your seats!

This special project was made possible through the Jewell Arts Program, a private art foundation dedicated to promoting all of the arts for students, & the J. Bernard Foundation.

About the Play: Tilly, Trinity, & Tess are having the ultimate birthday party the beach. There are piles of presents. There’s a huge cake and tons of ice cream. There’s even a band!! But even though they have so many wonderful things, the triplets aren’t grateful for what they have. When an argument leads to a disaster, Tilly, Trinity, and Tess find themselves whisked away from the party — and into a mysterious place where they’ll discover what really means the most to them.

The Ides of March have come and gone, and now
I stand upon a mountain of delight.
If there amongst our revels walkèd thou,
I thank thee for thy presence yesternight.
For every person — come from far or near —
A partner was in this festivity,
And ev’ry one doth hold a place most dear
In both my heart and our community.
But as the day is done, my musings turn
From present joy to future plans and plots —
And so, in hope to better grow and learn,
I ask most humbly: wilt thou share thy thoughts?
O, if thou would’st our little survey take,
My heart would fuller be than our blue lake.

The Ides of March: now rescheduled for April 19th from 1-5! You are invited to roam the Village at Grand Traverse Commons for a free Shakespeare festival where food, drink, and live performance intertwine. In partnership with The World’s a Stage, City Opera House, Mashup Rock ‘n’ Roll Musical, Left Foot Charley, Earthen Ales, ŌBrien Vineyards, Higher Grounds Trading Co.,  and The Village at Grand Traverse Commons, this Sunday afternoon experience is a chance to eat, drink, and witness bite-sized interpretations of Shakespeare performed in unexpected spaces.

The day unfolds as a journey: you’ll move from venue to venue, encountering scenes, songs, and soliloquies. Between performances, linger over local wine and beer, enjoy Sunday fare, and soak in the historic atmosphere of the Village, where Shakespeare’s themes of love, fate, folly, and betrayal will come alive. Et tu, Michigan winter?

We’ve been watching the forecast, and considering tomorrow’s impending snowstorm we have decided to push back the Ides of March to…April. We know what they say about April showers, but we’ll take them over snowstorms. Stay tuned for the exact date, which we’re working on scheduling with our wonderful venues.
