August is National Emergency Management Awareness Month!

"Emergency managers are the professionals who help communities and organizations prepare for the unexpected long before disaster strikes," said Josh Morton, MPA, CEM, SCCEM, president of the International Association of Emergency Managers USA Council. "National Emergency Management Awareness Month is an opportunity to recognize their contributions and increase understanding of the vital work they perform every day."

Changed to a .gov email address? Update your KEMA account!

Recently, we have noticed many agencies across Kentucky have changed email domains to countynameky.gov. If this is the case for you, your personnel, or your agency, please log in to your KEMA account and update your email address.

This is an important step in receiving communications from KEMA including conference updates, membership renewal notices, scholarships, and other important notices. If you need assistance making this change, please email the board secretary at [email protected].

As devastating flooding continues to impact the Commonwealth, our thoughts and prayers are with every family affected by this disaster.

We are especially praying for the first responders, firefighters, EMS personnel, law enforcement, emergency management staff, and swift water teams who are or have deployed to dangerous conditions to protect lives.

The Kentucky Emergency Management Association stands united with our colleagues during this challenging time. We stand ready to assist in any way we can and will continue to support rescue and response efforts across the Bluegrass.

Please keep these communities and everyone working on the front lines in your prayers.

This week, we honor our law enforcement partners across the commonwealth and the sacrifices they make each day.

We also remember those who have gone before us who made the ultimate sacrifice.

We are appreciative of the partnerships built between emergency managers and law enforcement entities!
