II. Presentation by the Camp Bowie Business Alliance
- Want to know what's up and coming along Camp Bowie? Please come and hear the Executive Director, Ms Lydia Guajardo Rickard talk about their efforts to improve the district.

III. Presentation by the Aspen Hospitality Group.
- Ms. Martha Collins will be presenting on their japanese inspired intimate restaurant concept that is fixing to hopefully break ground soon.

🎉 IT’S OFFICIAL! THE ROY POPE DEVELOPMENT HAS PASSED! 🎉

Big news for Arlington Heights! The Roy Pope development project has officially passed, marking an exciting step forward for our neighborhood.

A HUGE thank-you to all of our residents who spoke up, shared their support, and helped make this happen. Your voices matter, and this is a great example of what we can accomplish when our community comes together!

👏 A special shout-out to Macy Hill, who cast the first vote in favor of the project, immediately followed by a unanimous vote from the rest. We appreciate the council’s support in helping move this project forward.

We’re excited about the potential for more family-friendly destinations, gathering spaces, and neighborhood amenities right here in Arlington Heights. Our neighborhood deserves places where families can connect, neighbors can gather, and our community can continue to thrive.

Dear Arlington Heights Residents,

We are asking for your help in shaping the future of our neighborhood.

A proposal is currently before the City to transform the now-defunct Roy Pope grocery store into a vibrant restaurant and gathering place. Unfortunately, our current neighborhood association is opposing the zoning changes needed to make this project possible.

We believe Arlington Heights deserves better than a neighborhood defined by resistance to responsible change.

Our vision is to promote a vibrant, modern community that includes resident-friendly businesses and amenities that prioritize walkability, connectivity, and neighborhood camaraderie. Projects like the Roy Pope redevelopment are an important part of making that vision a reality.

And this will not be the last opportunity. As Arlington Heights continues to grow and evolve, there will be future proposals that can bring new restaurants, businesses, gathering spaces, and amenities to our neighborhood. We need a neighborhood organization that is willing to thoughtfully consider responsible development—not automatically oppose change.

Please take a moment to sign our petition supporting the zoning changes necessary to bring the Roy Pope property back to life as a vibrant neighborhood destination.
The petition will be presented to the City at the Zoning Commission meeting this Wednesday at 1:00 PM at City Hall. Every signature helps demonstrate that there are Arlington Heights residents who want to see our neighborhood move forward.

This isn't about supporting change for the sake of change. It's about supporting responsible change that makes our neighborhood more walkable, connected, vibrant, and enjoyable for the people who live here.

We hope you'll stand with us and help build the Arlington Heights we know is possible.

Thank you to EVERYONE that made this event a success. This is what a neighborhood organization should be about: bringing people together and improving our neighborhood in the process. This is what we all want and we will keep working to make Arlington Heights the most pedestrian friendly, community centric, business friendly and vibrant neighborhood in north Texas.

MEETING MINUTES FOR APRIL 23rd MTG.

Arlington Heights Residents Organization
Meeting Minutes

Date – April 23, 2026
Time – 6:00pm – 7:00pm
Location – Hotel Dryce
Attendees – Approximately 15 members

Meeting Summary:
The 1st Quarterly meeting was held for 2026. It was decided that we should have meetings more frequently but not monthly (every other month). Positions were discussed for permanent roles to assist the current steward, Pete Cardenas, with growing the organization. It was decided that the meetings should rotate at local businesses or schools. The consensus was to focus on community activities and business development as to separate ourselves from other similar organizations.

Agenda Items:
I. City Works Topic

- The goal was to have a section to talk about current city issues. Ideally the newly created role of “City Advocate” would speak on future topics. This meeting the topic was on the newly created City Flood Risk Areas and what it means to residents. II. Neighborhood Corner

- The goal of this section is to highlight business partners as well as any activities going on in the neighborhood (festivals, events, etc).

- Fort Worth Coffee Company was featured, and the AHRO provided coffee from their awesome shop.

- The owners of the new Salon space off Clover mentioned the timeline for their new tenant starting, and also mentioned wanting to have a farmers market sometime in late May. AHRO members were excited to help organize.

- Next meeting locations were discussed and hope to have it at Fort Worth Coffee Co.



III. Community and Schools

- It was decided that a “Community Schools Advocate” position should be created. Mikala Smith graciously decided to take on that role and inform us of anything going on with our local Fort Worth neighborhood schools: AHHS, Stripling MS and SHM Elementary. We hope to attend any of their PTA meetings in the future.
IV. Officers Discussion

- Positions created:
1. School Advocate – Mikala Smith

2. Community Safety Advocate – Open

3. City Advocate – Amy Summers

4. Social Media – Currently Pete Cardenas (still need someone)

5. President – Currently open (Pete is acting)

6. Vice President – Open

Action Items:

1. Send out meeting minutes – Pete

2. Start process for farmers market (Tentatively morning of May 23rd)

3. Start attending PTA meetings and City meetings – Mikala and Amy

4. Follow up on our organization registration with the City – Pete

5. Set up next meeting (Tentatively for June 25th, 2026)
