Fort Worth ISD unjustly removes an educator from her newly-appointed principal position following online anti-Muslim and anti-Palestinian hate. SWIPE RIGHT TO READ MORE →

Our strength is in our numbers. We affirm that an attack on our community will not go unchallenged. We call on all people of conscience to join the DFW community in demanding:

1. Reinstate Shayma Alzubi to the Western Hills High School principal position immediately and make a public apology
2. Terminate the investigation into Alzubi’s social media activity
3. Adopt clear protections against political harassment of educators
4. Commit to transparency in all principal hiring and reassignment decisions

Palestinians in Gaza marked Eid al-Adha with music, dancing, and community gatherings despite the ongoing Israeli genocide and humanitarian crisis in the besieged enclave.

Young girls performed traditional dabkeh dances while the Edward Said National Conservatory of Music – Gaza branch presented a special musical performance dedicated to Eid in Gaza, as residents sought brief moments of joy amid destruction and displacement.

This Saturday, May 23rd, DTMR’s Community Visiting Artist Educator Program presents musician Miriam Hacksaw!

Miriam Hacksaw will performing a collection of songs in Malayalam from Kerala, India, learned firsthand from singing with her elders. On fiddle and banjo, she shares not just the music but the stories behind it: the cultural context and meaning that make each song come alive.

Woven throughout are old-time tunes and songs Miriam has gathered from traditional musicians of color, honoring and uplifting the vital — and often overlooked — role of BIPOC artists in contemporary folk traditions. She also performs original music written in the spirit of these traditions, with lyrics rooted in her long history as an activist in climate and racial justice movements.

The result is an evening that moves seamlessly between worlds — a celebration of living folk traditions, the people who carry them, and the new songs being born from them.

Miriam’s set lists are designed to flow with Keith House’s Come To Good’s welcome and sunset sequences.

7:45 $20 general admission | $15 student | $10 children 12 and under
