Signs and striping next week

🚧 SH 199 Lane Closures Next Week 🚧
Heads up, Lake Worth drivers! There will be daily lane closures on SH 199 next week for roadway striping and sign installation.
🔹 When:
• Westbound: Monday, Aug. 17 – Friday, Aug. 21 (9 a.m. – 3 p.m. daily)
• Eastbound: Wednesday, Aug. 19 – Friday, Aug. 21 (full closure 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. daily)
🔹 Traffic Detour:
Eastbound traffic will be detoured at the Surfside Drive exit starting Wednesday, Aug. 19, using the frontage road across the old Lake Worth bridge.
🔹 Ramp Closure:
The westbound exit ramp to Surfside Drive will be closed periodically during the daytime (9 a.m. – 3 p.m.).
🔹 Where:
SH 199 eastbound and westbound main lanes between Hodgkins Road and FM 1886/Confederate Parkway.
The old SH 199 frontage road bridge over Lake Worth remains closed westbound.
🔹 What to Expect:
Contractors will be installing roadway striping, overhead sign structures, and related improvements. Please follow posted detours and use caution in the work zone.

SH 199 — Daily Lane and Ramp Closures Next Week
Westbound Exit Ramp to Surfside Drive Periodically Closed for Fiber Installation

Monday, August 10 – Friday, August 14, 2026

Closures include:
• Right lane closures on eastbound and westbound SH 199 between Hodgkins Road and FM 1886/Confederate Parkway.
• Periodic closures of the westbound exit ramp to Surfside Drive. Drivers will be detoured to the FM 1886/Confederate Parkway exit and can follow signs back to Surfside Drive.
• The old SH 199 frontage road bridge over Lake Worth remains closed in both the eastbound and westbound directions.

The contractor for the SH 199 Lake Worth bridge project will have daily right lane closures from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, August 10, through Friday, August 14, between Hodgkins Road and FM 1886/Confederate Parkway in both directions for installation of overhead guide signs, striping, and other construction activities.

In addition, crews will periodically close the westbound exit ramp to Surfside Drive while installing fiber optic cable. Motorists will be detoured to the FM 1886/Confederate Parkway exit and can follow posted signs back to Surfside Drive.

Motorists should use caution, follow posted traffic changes, and expect delays as construction continues.

The Nature Center has scheduled a prescribed burn to occur Wednesday, August 5th.

The prescribed burn will cause the Hardwicke Interpretive Visitor Center to be closed to the public until noon. The following listed trails will also be closed to the public until deemed safe for reentry: Deer Mouse, Prairie, Caprock, Fireline, Limestone Ledge, and Riverbottom from P3 to Wild Plum.

Begins at approximately 9:25 PM
Be safe if you plan on boating over to the base area! There's usually a lot of boats anchored near the base/dam area to get a great view of the fireworks.

Looks like they will try again to restripe and open the ramps on 199 this coming Monday - Thursday. Please use caution during the daily closures and as new traffic patterns are implemented

WHAT:
The contractor for the SH 199 Lake Worth bridge project is scheduled install roadway striping in both directions of SH 199 between FM 1886-Confederate Parkway and Hodgkins Road from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily beginning on Monday, June 22nd through Friday, June 26th. Various lanes will be closed in both eastbound and westbound directions weekdays for the striping operation and motorists should expect delays. On Thursday June 25th, the contractor is scheduled to open three new ramps in the project area: (1) eastbound entrance ramp from FM 1886-Confederate Parkway to SH 199; (2) westbound entrance ramp from Surfside Drive to SH 199; and (3) westbound exit ramp from SH 199 to FM 1886-Confederate Parkway.
