We’ve been a little quiet… but that’s because we’ve been busy building. Here’s a little sneak peak of our live map. Weather? Got it. METARS? Got it. Airspace Map? Got it. Dark or light? Got it. 👀😏

AAvirtual is now about 80% complete, and we’re currently putting the final touches on everything to get things ready for takeoff.

🌩️ PRISM - Our Revolutionary Monitoring System
Meet PRISM (Predictive Route Intelligence and Situational Monitoring) - our brand new real-time flight monitoring system that's about to change how you fly entirely. PRISM continuously tracks every aspect of your flight operations, from fuel consumption and weather impacts to aircraft performance and route efficiency.
Behind the scenes, PRISM leverages data from our internal weather engine (codenamed "Viper") which uses AWS for the massive computational processing required to ingest hundreds of data points from multiple sources. This isn't just weather data, this is real-time analysis of atmospheric conditions, turbulence forecasts, wind patterns, and how they specifically impact each individual flight path.

✈️ Real Dispatcher Operations
PRISM will enable human flight dispatchers to monitor and coordinate operations exactly like real-world airline dispatch centers. Dispatchers will have the ability to:

- Track aircraft positions and fuel status in real-time
- Monitor weather impacts and suggest route modifications
- Send direct communications and instructions to pilots mid-flight
- Coordinate gate assignments, fuel planning, and operational decisions
- Take immediate action when conditions change

Imagine having a dedicated dispatcher watching over your flight, ready to guide you around severe weather or optimize your route for fuel efficiency, all happening in real-time while you're flying.

🤖 Automated Dispatch Coverage
Whenever no human dispatchers are online, PRISM automatically takes over and fills in the gaps. The system seamlessly transitions into autonomous dispatch mode, continuing to monitor flights, analyze weather conditions, and provide automated guidance to pilots. You'll never be flying without some form of dispatch support, whether it's a human dispatcher or PRISM's intelligent automation watching over your operations.

🤓 Why We Build Everything Custom (And Why It's So Complex)
You might be wondering: "Why is this platform so insanely complicated?" We're a bunch of nerdy engineers who absolutely love building cool, cutting-edge technology. We use multiple cloud environments, write code in several different programming languages, and custom-build nearly everything from the ground up instead of using off-the-shelf solutions.

Why? Because we want to create something truly special that doesn't exist anywhere else in the flight sim community. We could have taken shortcuts and used existing platforms, but where's the fun in that? Our IT team gets genuinely excited about solving complex problems. We get to do what we love professionally every day, and now we get to share that passion with the virtual aviation community. Every line of code, every system we architect, every complex integration we build - it's all because we want to give you something incredible that pushes the boundaries of what's possible.

We're excited to share another glimpse into CrewLink's development with a new screenshot!

🌐 **More than just desktop ACARS**: CrewLink is being built as a true cross-platform application, designed to run seamlessly across the browser, Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android. This means you'll have access to the entire suite of CrewLink features whether you're at your flight sim setup or on the go!

🖥️ **What you're seeing**: Our sleek home page interface showcasing CrewLink's clean, aviation-focused design with multiple theme options. The dashboard features real-time communications, comprehensive flight data, and intuitive navigation - all designed with cross-platform compatibility in mind.

📱 **Mobile on the horizon**: While our initial release will focus on the desktop and web experience, mobile apps for iOS and Android are definitely on our roadmap. Imagine being able to check your ongoing flight status or control your sim - all from your phone or tablet!

Hey Friends!

It’s been about a month since our last update, and we’ve been hard at work behind the scenes! We’re super excited to share some of what we’ve been up to.

One of the coolest updates is that now, whenever an airport is shown, it’ll automatically show the airport’s flight category based on visibility and ceiling. You’ll even be able to see the METAR by hovering over the airport—pretty handy, right?

We’ve also introduced a new feature that lets you search for trips using weather conditions at the airports, as well as airport characteristics like scenic airports, mountainous terrain, or even ones with a challenging approach.

We’ve had a lot of questions about the timeline, and we’re still feeling good about a Q1 2025 beta release. In the meantime, we’re looking for folks who are interested in helping us test CrewLink! If you’re up for it, shoot us an email: [email protected]

🚀 Progress Update: Building Our Future Tech! 🚀

We’ve been hard at work, and we’re excited to share the progress we’ve made so far! Our new Kubernetes infrastructure is now live, setting the foundation for everything to come. We’ve been focused on standing up our APIs and real-time engines, ensuring that all the different parts of our system can communicate smoothly and efficiently. The work we’re doing now will make sure you experience seamless performance and reliability as we move forward.

With everything syncing together, we’re thrilled to see how quickly everything is coming to life. Our team is committed to delivering an exceptional experience, and while there’s still a lot of work ahead, the progress we’ve made has been incredibly rewarding. Happy Sunday, everyone!

We’re excited to share a few updates on what’s happening with CrewLink!

This week, we launched our new backend infrastructure. After learning from past challenges, we’ve adopted a scalable system that can better handle surges of pilots flying simultaneously. This upgrade will relieve some of the strain that Oasis/IOC experienced during peak hours.

CrewLink Desktop: Progressing smoothly through its Alpha phase.
CrewLink Web: Core backend development is underway. To avoid major changes later, we're finalizing some policy adjustments before diving deeper into development.
In the coming weeks, we’ll form a volunteer focus group to ensure we’re building exactly what our community wants. Stay tuned for more updates!

Your excitement and support since our announcement have been nothing short of amazing, and we’re as eager as you are to see our virtual airline soar again. We’re working tirelessly to build something truly special, and we can’t wait to share more of what’s in store.

Today, we’re thrilled to introduce CrewLink, our brand-new platform that will redefine your virtual flying experience. CrewLink will be available as both a web and desktop application, powered by a Rust backend for blazing performance and low resource consumption. The desktop app will facilitate real-time communications with our servers, while the web version—built in React—will allow you to control various aspects of your flight remotely from any device, whether you’re on a desktop, laptop, or mobile device.

We’re still in development and refining every detail, but we’ll be releasing a complete feature list and roadmap in the coming weeks and months, so stay tuned!

Additionally, we’ve received an overwhelming response from those of you interested in stepping into leadership roles within our new structure—thank you! For those still interested, there’s still time to get in touch and be part of shaping this exciting new chapter.

In 2023, we made the tough decision to pause operations due to several challenges. It wasn’t a decision we took lightly, but the circumstances left us with no other choice. For many of us, it felt like the right decision, but it was still hard to let go of something we had dedicated so much time and effort to building.

Since then, we’ve had the chance to reflect deeply on those challenges and learn from where we went wrong. Facing our mistakes wasn’t easy, but it was necessary. One major issue was that our system wasn’t able to grow as we did, which led to a lot of frustration. Unlike other virtual airlines, we didn’t use an off-the-shelf solution. Our platform was custom-built, which gave us more flexibility but also created more challenges as we expanded.

But the difficulties weren’t just technical. Our leadership structure was too large and inefficient, with some key roles unfilled and others in the wrong positions, which slowed us down when we needed quick decisions. Additionally, we had some individuals who didn’t share the same vision for the community as we did, which created misalignment and made it even harder to move forward. Our policies contributed to confusion, and the costs of maintaining our infrastructure became unsustainable.

A common question we’ve heard is why we used such an advanced system when simpler solutions were available. The answer is that those simpler options didn’t offer the level of control, performance, or experience we wanted to give this community. While our approach was complex, it allowed us to innovate in ways others couldn’t. We introduced unique features like experience points (XP), off-schedule trips, historical routes, and over 150 PIREP XP trait bonuses. We also offered UI themes, awards based on PIREP quality, and heavy Discord integration, which all contributed to a richer community experience.

Throughout these challenges, one thing was clear: we weren’t ready to give up. The support and feedback from the community were overwhelming, encouraging us to learn from our mistakes and come back stronger.

Now, we’re excited to share that we’re preparing for our return. We know this might bring mixed emotions, but we hope you’ll see the new direction we’re taking.

Significant changes have been implemented across the board. The platform has been rebuilt for a faster, more modern experience, with streamlined features focused on what matters most. The leadership team has been enhanced with industry expertise, ensuring we have the right guidance moving forward. Additionally, the leadership structure has been revamped to enable quicker decision-making.

Our policies have been simplified, focusing on engagement, growth, and transparency. We’ve retained all previous data so you can access all of your membership and flight information. For those returning from other virtual airlines, we’ve made it easy to import your data if you joined another airline while we were shut down.

However, we want to be transparent—things aren’t ready just yet. We’re still refining our systems, policies, and structure to ensure we return better prepared to meet the needs of the community. We will provide regular updates as we progress, keeping you informed every step of the way.

We know that our pause in operations may have caused frustration, and we’re committed to rebuilding the trust we may have lost. Our focus now is on creating a future that reflects the needs and values of this community, with transparency and improvement as our guiding principles.

To those who have stuck with us, thank you. And for those who choose not to return, we deeply appreciate your contributions and respect your decision.
