ICYMI: Our 2026 City of Fort Worth Academic Report last week reveals real progress: more campuses improved, more students are reading on grade level, and year-over-year growth is happening across many parts of the city. While more students are meeting grade level standards, 61% of Fort Worth kids are still not on track. Significant work remains to ensure all Fort Worth students have access to the support they need to succeed. Read the full report: https://buff.ly/ZYd1WNh

The research is clear that residency-trained teachers have some of the highest student achievement outcomes, improve faster, and are more likely to stay in the classroom longer than teachers from other preparation pathways, such as those prepared and certified through online-only programs, which have long been the majority of hires in Fort Worth-area schools.

Since 2020, FWEP has been supporting higher education institutions in scaling residency-trained teacher pipelines, and we are thrilled to support UTA in taking on this important work. Over a hundred teachers graduate from UTA's College of Education annually and go on to teach in classrooms across Fort Worth. We are pleased that they now have the opportunity to enter their first year in the classroom with a yearlong, paid residency already under their belt.

The schools serving our most economically disadvantaged students are leading the way. These campuses are proving that with the right support, every student in the City of Fort Worth can thrive. The growth in these communities shows what's possible when we believe in our students, speak plainly about the issues in our education system, and drive change in the decisions adults make to better serve students. We still have a lot of progress to make, but we are on the right track. Read the full report: https://buff.ly/RhgIWBc

Fort Worth students have now posted two consecutive years of academic improvement — and this year, the campuses serving our most economically disadvantaged students improved faster than the rest.

Brent Beasley sat down with KERA's NTX Now to walk through FWEP's 2026 City of Fort Worth Academic Performance Report, which looks at all 165,000+ public school students across 12 districts and 10 charter networks — not just one system.

Growth is happening across the City of Fort Worth. 65% of our campuses improved this year, and 8 out of 10 city council districts saw gains in 2026. There is something special about the work of both teachers in the classroom and the community at large coming together with a singular focus on what is most important. Let’s press on toward continued improvement, because we want all our students to have the opportunities they deserve. Read the full report: https://isu.pub/uYd79SQ

For the first time since the pandemic, Fort Worth's student performance has improved for two years running. That means thousands more children are meeting grade level today than two years ago. While we’re still a long way from where we’re going, we’re headed in the right direction. This growth shows what happens when teachers, families, and community leaders stay focused on what matters most for students, and why we need to stay focused. 📚 More children in Fort Worth are reading on grade level than at any point since we began releasing our Academic Performance Reports. There is still work ahead to ensure all kids in Fort Worth have access to the educational foundation they deserve, but more Fort Worth students are on the right track, and their progress deserves to be celebrated. Our job as a community is to make sure that number keeps climbing. Read the full report: https://buff.ly/RhgIWBc
