What a beautiful day for GNI!

This past weekend, we held our Jack and Jill/Carole Robertson Day — A Royal Family Affair: Honoring Our Crown and it was truly a beautiful celebration of our children, our families, our community, and our legacy.

I want to personally thank our amazing committee for the time, hard work, creativity, and love that went into making this day so special. I know firsthand that events like this don’t just happen, and I am truly grateful for each of you. 🩷💙

To our GNI Mother Members, THANK YOU! Thank you for showing up, supporting the vision, serving our families, and continuing to pour into our children and our community. It truly takes a village, and I’m so thankful for ours. 🫶🏾

A huge thank you as well to our community partners, vendors, barbers, braiders, volunteers, and everyone who supported us. We could not have done it without you!

And to make the day even more special, we had the opportunity to celebrate our 29th National President, Deidre S. Lindsey! It was such a special moment to honor her leadership and celebrate this historic milestone for our organization.🩷💙

My heart is full! Days like this are a reminder of what can happen when we come together, serve with purpose, and keep our children at the center of everything we do.

Sixty-nine years ago today, the Little Rock Nine entered Central High School for their first full day of classes.

Three years after Brown v. Board of Education declared segregated public schools unconstitutional, nine Black students still required federal protection to exercise a right the law had already affirmed.

Their courage made visible the distance between constitutional promise and educational reality.
Nearly seven decades later, that history still resonates. Educational opportunity cannot exist only in principle, it must be reflected in the access, resources and quality of education available to every child.

For Jack and Jill of America, their legacy calls us to use our collective voice to advocate for our children, advance educational opportunity and help ensure that the promise of equal access is realized for generations to come.

Today, we honor the Little Rock Nine, and the responsibility their legacy calls us to carry forward.

What a beautiful day of sisterhood, leadership, and intentional connection.

Our 2026-2027 Greater Northeast Indiana Executive Board Retreat was exactly what we needed! A chance to step away from the business of the chapter, reflect on where we’ve been, celebrate what we’ve accomplished, and get aligned on where we’re going.

I’m incredibly grateful for these women who continue to show up, serve, lead, and pour into our chapter and one another. Leadership isn’t always easy, but having the right women beside you makes the journey that much sweeter. And yes… we were Uncorked & Unfiltered!

As we move into this program year, we’re committed to leading with purpose and keeping our theme at the center of everything we do:

As we continue to recognize Sickle Cell Awareness Month, we’re taking a moment to honor the Black health professionals whose service helped shape the care and research we know today.

Maurice Walton Tate, affectionately known as “Mrs. Tate,” was among the first nurses at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital when its doors opened in 1962. She came to St. Jude with 20 years of nursing experience and went on to be part of its early work in sickle cell research and treatment.

Her story is also part of a much larger one.

For generations, Black nurses, physicians, researchers and caregivers have served our communities, advanced medicine and created pathways for those who came after them. Their work deserves to be remembered, celebrated and carried forward.

This month, we honor Mrs. Tate and thank the many Black health professionals whose legacy of care continues to touch our children and families.

So much of the work that keeps America moving happens beyond our view, yet in plain sight. In the unseen actions and service of those that clean our classrooms, cook the meals, and do the work so important to our existence yet so subtle it is almost invisible.
Behind every system, service and infrastructure we rely on people whose labor makes it all possible. For generations, Black workers have been integral to that story—often doing essential work without equal recognition, opportunity or protection.
The Pullman porters and maids are one powerful example. Their labor helped define the nation’s rail experience, even as they endured demanding conditions and racial discrimination. In response to exclusion, Black workers organized, fought for dignity and helped expand opportunity for those who came after them.
This Labor Day, as you move through your day, look a little closer. Notice the people behind the service, the systems and the spaces we depend on—and honor the hands that keep them moving.

What an incredible week at the 47th National Convention of Jack and Jill of America, Inc.! 🩷💙

On behalf of the Greater Northeast Indiana Chapter, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to our 29th National President, Deidre S. Lindsey. What a blessing it was to witness this historic moment and celebrate such an amazing leader.

We return home with full hearts, renewed purpose, and an even greater commitment to serving our children, our families, and our community. Thank you to everyone who represented our chapter with excellence. We are excited for all that’s ahead!
