This Memorial Day, we remember the fallen and honor those whose courage, service, and sacrifice helped shape the meaning of this day.

The Harlem Hellfighters, one of the most decorated Black combat units of World War I, were not approved to receive the Congressional Gold Medal until 2021 — more than 100 years after the war ended.

Their story reminds us that Black communities have long modeled patriotism, discipline, and determination, even when full recognition was delayed.

As Jack and Jill families, we carry this history forward by teaching our children the fullness of the legacy they inherit.

Today’s Annual Black Family Day: HBCU Edition was an incredible success! 💙🩷

The Greater Northeast Indiana Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. extends our heartfelt gratitude to every family, volunteer, vendor, community partner, and supporter who helped make this event so special. From the bounce houses and games to the delicious food, fellowship, and family fun, the energy throughout the day was truly unforgettable!

Most importantly, we were proud to celebrate and highlight the rich legacy, excellence, culture, and opportunities of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Seeing our community come together to learn, connect, and uplift one another made this event even more meaningful.

Thank you for showing up, showing love, and supporting our mission of strengthening children through leadership development, volunteer service, philanthropic giving, and civic duty.

Black Family Day: HBCU Tailgate Edition! Free, family fun with games, DJ Kess, food trucks & community. Register to join the celebration!

Join us for Black Family Day: HBCU Tailgate Edition hosted by the Greater Northeast Indiana Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc.! Celebrate Black culture, community, and HBCU pride with a fun-filled day for the whole family.

Enjoy spades, bouncy houses, outdoor games, and tailgate-style activities, plus music by DJ Kess and delicious options from local food trucks. The first 100 children will receive free food, so come early!

Rep your favorite HBCU or Greek organization and dress casual and comfortable. Bring your family, friends, and your school spirit for an afternoon of joy, connection, and celebration.

Black women are still more than three times as likely to die from pregnancy-related causes compared to their counterparts in the United States.

Doulas help provide support, advocacy, and care before, during, and after birth. But access remains limited.

We will continue to advocate for care that protects, listens to, and honors our mothers.
