Alejandro and Hannah Alcantara are joining the Solid Rock International team as In-Country Directors, serving alongside their four children: Aiker, Elsie, Isaac, and Isabella.

Alejandro’s connection with Solid Rock International began as one of the first sponsored students at Lucille Rupp School. After graduating, he returned to invest in his community, serving as a pastor and Bible teacher at the school. For the past ten years, he has also served as a part-time pastor at Central Mennonite Church.

Hannah first came to San Juan in 2019 as a Peace Corps volunteer after earning a degree in Marketing from the University of Georgia. During her time in the Dominican Republic, she developed a deep love for the country and its people. Since marrying Alejandro in 2021, she has continued living and working remotely in the Dominican Republic.

Together, Alejandro and Hannah bring a unique blend of local leadership, ministry experience, and cross-cultural perspective. They are excited to support SRI staff, missionaries, and Dominican partners as they advance the mission of Solid Rock International and share the love of Christ throughout the Dominican Republic.

“The first time I felt like I was home was when we stopped at a gas station to use the bathroom on our long drive. I stepped out of the car and a familiar smell hit me and it took me a second to realize what it was. I looked outside and realized that I was close to home because there was nothing around, just this little carryout, some train tracks and an open field of grass, it was the grass that hit me; it smelled so fresh and green and like home and springtime…”

We are wrapping up the celebration of Dominican Staff Appreciation Month! We enjoyed highlighting several key staff members who play important roles in helping our ministry run both efficiently and effectively. This year, our theme was God never forgets your faithful work, inspired by Hebrews 6:10.

Your involvement with Dominican Staff Appreciation Month has made a big difference. Thank you for your participation as we showered extra LOVE on our staff this May! The staff will be enjoying a beach day together on Friday, June 5.

So far, we have raised over $32,000! We have just wrapped up our search for an In-Country Director, so additional funds will be applied toward their salary as well. Follow the link below to support the staff today:

“I have really been thinking over the last year about what the early church would have looked like. They gathered in homes. They broke bread together. They did life together, discipled from one generation to the next, and prayed earnestly for each other. And I think that this is something that overall lacks in our often scheduled and individualistic first-world culture.”
