1. Why did you become a board member of Heart to Heart Cookies? When I came up with this idea I knew I wanted to be as active in it as possible. It holds my passion as well as so many things close to my heart. Being the president just made sense. I rallied some really awesome people and now we work together on making this really happen!

2. What about Heart to Heart Cookies mission is important to you? THE WHOLE thing!! We knew what we wanted to do and what we wanted to say. We had multiple drafts for our mission statement and specific words we wanted to use. We want to let these children know how important they really are.

1. Why did you become a board member of Heart to Heart Cookies? I became a board member because I believe every child deserves to be celebrated. Foster youth face many trials, so providing them with cookies shows them that the community cares about them. Heart of the Cookie is a program that helps provide quality care to foster youth. We want to go beyond providing cookies; we want to instill a sense of inclusion, community, and most importantly love for each other in our youth.

2. What about Heart to Heart Cookies mission is important to you? As a previous foster parent, foster youth internalize that they are the reason for the removal. Our mission shows that they are seen, and we want to hear their voice. Every child deserves an amazing childhood where they feel cherished, loved, and valued.

“The mission of the organization is something beautiful - for me to be able to contribute to a part of a child’s confidence and self-worth is an honor. I strive to make sure that others understand that children who are in more challenging circumstances need even more love, compassion, attention, patience, and support than their peers in order to see their own value. Looking through this lens makes it impossible for me NOT to support this organization.”
