✨ Flashback Friday ✨
In 1937, the New York Junior League Hospital’s Library committee distributed 90,000 books to 50,000 patients across 11 New York City hospitals. Through “bibliotherapy,” the committee provided reading materials to patients as a source of comfort, connection, and encouragement during their hospital stays.
The initiative reflected the League’s commitment to supporting community well-being in thoughtful and innovative ways, while also giving members opportunities to organize large-scale service efforts and expand their impact throughout the city.
As we celebrate 125 years of the Junior League Movement, we honor the meaningful programs and dedicated volunteers who helped strengthen communities through compassion and service.
