School supplies, helping hands, and a whole lot of heart! 💙📚✏️

Last Thursday, Shellcoast AACN delivered our back-to-school drive donations to Treeline Elementary School! From notebooks and pencils to crayons, scissors, glue, and headphones, our carts were filled with supplies to support students and classrooms.

Thank you to everyone who donated, shopped, and helped bring this delivery together. Every contribution helped turn a collection of supplies into a shared act of kindness. 💛

We’re grateful for the opportunity to support our local school community and extend our caring beyond the bedside. Wishing Treeline’s students and educators a wonderful school year!

Learning together, connecting with colleagues, and getting hands-on! 💙

Shellcoast AACN’s September educational dinner brought us together for “Elevating the Standard of Care in the ICU” with Cardinal Health.

From feeding tube technology to DVT prevention and single-patient-use leadwires, the evening included demonstrations, hands-on exploration, and conversations about the care we provide every day.

Thank you to Cardinal Health for supporting this evening of learning and to everyone who joined us. We love seeing our nursing community come together! 🩺✨

Every Voice. Every Story. Every Table. 💙

This past Monday, members of Shellcoast AACN volunteered at the Harry Chapin Food Bank of Southwest Florida in Fort Myers, helping prepare food for individuals and families throughout our community.

And what a few hours of teamwork accomplished was pretty incredible:

🥕 943 bags of fresh produce
📦 200 Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) food kits that help provide nutritious food to low-income seniors in our community
⚖️ 2,169 pounds of food
🍽️ The equivalent of 1,807 meals
⏱️ 36 hours of service from 12 volunteers

Behind every number is a person, a family, and a table.

As nurses, caring for our community extends beyond the bedside. Health is shaped in our homes, our neighborhoods, and around our tables, and access to nutritious food is an important part of building healthier communities.

We’re grateful to the Harry Chapin Food Bank of Southwest Florida for welcoming us and for the incredible work they do every day to fight hunger across our region.

Sometimes caring for the people around the table starts with helping put something on it. 💙

Temperature matters. 🌡️🩺

This month’s educational dinner focused on Targeted Temperature Management (TTM) and the important role temperature monitoring and control can play in the care of critically ill patients.

From maintaining a consistent target temperature to preventing shivering and promoting controlled rewarming, the evening offered valuable reminders of how thoughtful, evidence-based interventions can impact patient care.

The Shellcoast Chapter of AACN is proud to host our annual Back-to-School Supply Drive benefiting Treeline Elementary School.

Help us support local students by donating essential school supplies to help them start the school year prepared for success.

📅 Donations will be accepted through September 7.

Last week, Shellcoast AACN hosted our very first bonus educational dinner of the year!

Members enjoyed an engaging evening focused on temporary mechanical circulatory support (tMCS) and the Impella® heart pump.

The evening featured a clinical case presentation by our very own Rich Kobleur, BSN, RN, CCRN-CSC, highlighting the early recognition and management of cardiogenic shock.

Attendees enjoyed an engaging presentation on pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), exploring disease recognition, diagnosis, risk stratification, and current treatment approaches.
