Great conversations, great company, and even better learning 🍷✨

Thank you to Solventum for sponsoring an insightful evening with our Shellcoast AACN community! We had the opportunity to dive into the Prevena™ Incision Management System, a closed-incision negative pressure therapy designed to support healing and reduce postoperative complications.

Showing up for our community looks like this 🤍

This past weekend, Shellcoast AACN partnered with Habitat for Humanity of Collier County and brought together 13 incredible volunteers to give back. From painting to site cleanup, everyone stepped in wherever they were needed— and made a real impact.

What made the day even more meaningful was learning that our volunteer hours can support coworkers who may one day qualify for a Habitat home. A powerful reminder that service doesn’t just reach outward— it can come full circle within our own community.

We were especially proud to see such a strong turnout—nurses (some coming straight off night shift), students, and dedicated volunteers all showing up with purpose.

Thank you to everyone who spent their Saturday morning with us, just ahead of National Volunteer Week. Your time, energy, and heart truly made a difference.

Grateful to be part of something bigger than ourselves 🤍

Earlier this week, a few of our Shellcoast AACN board members joined community partners for a collaborative training focused on implementing ECG heart screenings for student-athletes across Collier County.

This initiative brings together healthcare professionals, schools, and organizations with one shared goal — early detection and prevention of sudden cardiac events in our youth.

We’re proud to stand alongside Naples Comprehensive Health - NCH, Nicklaus Children's Hospital, Collier County Public School District, and Who We Play For in support of this important work.

Volunteer opportunities will be coming in the next few months as screenings begin — stay tuned if you’d like to be involved.

In honor of Certified Nurses Day, we took a little time to come together and celebrate the dedication it takes to pursue excellence in critical care and beyond. 🤍

Moments like this matter— being able to step away, connect, and recognize the level of commitment it takes to show up, grow, and keep pushing forward in this profession.

Congratulations to the incredible nurses in our Shellcoast Chapter who have achieved specialty certification. Each credential reflects a commitment to advancing clinical excellence and delivering the highest level of care to the patients and communities we serve.

Certification is more than a title. It represents curiosity, discipline, and a willingness to continue growing as professionals.

To our certified nurses — thank you for setting the standard. And to those considering certification, we hope the achievements of your colleagues inspire you to take that next step in your professional journey.

Together, we continue to elevate the practice of critical care nursing.

✨ Meet Shellcoast member Anna Acevedo, BSN, RN, CV-BC, CCRN.
Certified since March 2025 and July 2025.

When asked what certification means to her, Anna shared:
“I pursued my CCRN and CV-BC because I’ve focused my career in cardiovascular critical care, especially CVICU, and I wanted my credentials to reflect that commitment. The certifications strengthened my clinical knowledge and reinforced my goal of continuing in CVICU as I advance into a Nurse Practitioner role.”

Her advice to nurses considering certification?
“I’d tell them to pursue certification as an investment in themselves. The studying process strengthens your knowledge, confidence, and credibility in your specialty. It’s challenging, but it elevates your practice and reinforces your commitment to excellence.”

✨ Meet Shellcoast member Emily McNiskin MSN, RN, CCRN, NPD-BC.
Certified since July 2023 and December 2025.

When asked what certification means to her, Emily shared:
“I wanted to motivate myself to know more about my specialties. Especially with ICU care. I wanted to be able to prove to myself that I was knowledgeable.”

Her advice to nurses considering certification?
“Reach out to your NPD or Leadership. There are tons of resources out there that are available and some are free! Find a buddy to study with. And take as many practice questions as you can.”

✨ Meet Shellcoast member Paul Palanzi, BSN, RN, CCRN.
Certified since November 2012.

When asked what certification means to him, Paul shared:
“Honestly, I found out that my hospital paid for certification and that it would allow me to participate in the nursing ladder program. But when I started on the journey to study and become certified I found a new community and new opportunities to learn and advance in my nursing career. Attending AACN conferences and being involved in the local chapter has been a highlight of my career.”

His advice to nurses considering certification?
“Go for it! Certification opens so many doors. Also, I would tell my coworkers that if I passed, you can pass.”
