Not Fearing Lack, God Cares – LUKE 12:28

“But if God so clothes the grass, which is alive in the field today, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will he clothe you, O you of little faith!” Luke 12:28

Perhaps if there’s one fear that we greatly battle with, that would be fearing lack. It is this fear that brings us so much anxiety, much labor to do and to think about.

To think about our needs isn’t bad. In fact, the Lord encouraged us to do good labor to be able to provide and not to be in lack. But to fear of being in lack everyday is a different scenario. It brings us in a disposition of doubting the capacity of the Lord we trust who provided for our needs. Yes, needs first and not wants. It leads us to believe that we will do it on our own and faith in God diminishes – logic over wisdom of having faith.

For today’s scripture, may we be reminded of this unchanging truth – the Lord provides and will never fail you. Yes, it is the Lord who blessed you with a job, who blessed you with talents and abilities to do the job. It is He who blessed you with people who cares, it is He who blessed you with the wisdom to steward what we have to meet our daily needs.

Even the birds who have no idea are being fed by God, how much more you, a child of God? He cares for you. He will provide. May fear will end and free you from doubting. Present your needs to the Lord daily, for He provides.

Worry Less, God Cares – LUKE 12:25-26

“Does worry add anything to your life? Can it add one more year, or even one day? So if worrying adds nothing, but actually subtracts from your life, why would you worry about God’s care of you? Luke 12:25-26

Worry – one of the emotions that we battle into every day. There isn’t a single day that we do not worry. We worry on certain things, big or small. We worry for different reasons – materially, financially, relationally, and even spiritually. In fact in all of life, there is worry. It is something that we welcome into our minds and hearts, we allow it to remain and leave us thinking of a lot of scenarios in our minds. It is shaking us, it stifle us, and puts us in a disposition of fear and numbness.

Why is it important to deal about too much worrying? Because Christ said so. The Lord was very clear on this and imparted this lesson to his first few followers to not to worry. Indeed Jesus was right, worrying adds up to unnecessary stress that may cause health complications. Can it indeed add a single day? A single year? And yes, it does subtracts your life. It takes you away from living in full. It is ultimately, doubting in God’s care for you, and for all of us, those whose trust is in Him.

God cares for you and I, He knows what we need. Christ taught us to step into faith and pray about what we worry, and not having worries dwell in us. Christ assure us of His love that is sufficient enough to keep us away from the worldly lifestyle and views of endless worry, rather, He wants us to fix our eyes on him everyday, that we may gain wisdom, understanding, and a new level of faith each day to trust in Him, and to be content with Him. When worry shakes you, the world can wait! Present your concerns to God, find rest in communion with Him, leave your worries into His hands.

Living in the Truth at Peace – ROMANS 12:18

If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. Romans 12:18

To live in love for the lost, gentle speakers of the truth, we desire to live, as much as possible, at peace with all.

As we live for God, under the presence of God, we are honed to endure, to comprehend his will, and to be steadfast and patience towards how others behave. He gives us an understanding that not our human thinking can fathom but only the Holy Spirit, making us the “blind that can now see” each day. One of which is to be at peace with others.

We do not want to be the reason for conflict with others, we do not want to be the cause of toxic relationships, and we do not want to put a dent on God’s truth as a loving God by being the person who opposes and not always in good terms with others.

Friends, Christ called us to be as much as we can, live peaceably with others. Though some days, it hurts to see evildoers prosper, or encounter a behavior that we do not like, but trust the power of the Holy Spirit to give us a new level of understanding each day – that we are not battling against flesh, but the spirits behind it. And we, as God’s children, who rest in us, counter it with hope that one day, may they encounter the Lord and know that He is good. Keep living at peace, for your love in Christ is secured.

Speakers of Truth with Gentleness – 1 PETER 3:15

“But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.” 1 Peter 3:15

When Christ was preaching about the kingdom of heaven, He never forced it to everyone to receive. He welcomed those who believe and did not argued and fight with those who doubt, but with gentleness, he left a mark in their lives and hoped that one day, they will turn and repent.

In the same way, Peter imparted to the early Christians to be ready to defend the faith, to be precise of the reason of their hope and joy in the midst of trials and tribulation, and to say it with gentleness.

To be gentle in speaking about the truth means to show respect and honor to everyone around us. Not forcing things to them, rather, show them the goodness and kindness of the Lord through the way we live and the way we treat them and when we say about our faith, we don’t make it sound offensive. In that way, through our lives, they will experience and encounter God and in God’s timing and conviction to them, they will turn and believe.

Do you have friends, colleagues and relatives that always ask you, or whom you hope to turn and believe in the Lord? Remain hopeful and steadfast, for the Lord longs for them to be saved . Show love, remain gentle and most importantly, pray continuously for them. May we remain gentle in spirit as we walk and talk about our faith.

Witness of Truth with Love – 1 PETER 2:12

“Keep your conduct among the Gentiles honorable, so that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day of visitation.” 1 Peter 2:12

To love is also to show honor. We honor by respecting the dignity of the people around us, as much as possible, live peaceably with others as what we are called to. The Lord also called us to not harden our hearts when we see someone who are in need (Deut. 15:7). In our relationship with others, we are encouraged to rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep – this is our ministry of presence to others, to empathize and to care (Romans 12:15)

All of these stem from love. The Lord exemplifies what love is – restoration, redemption and even dying for others. Feeding for the hungry, healing the sick. Notice how Jesus Christ showed love while He was preaching, representing the kingdom of heaven while being in human form, submitting to the authority of the society. Because ultimately, he desires salvation for all, up to the worst of sinners, for he came not for the well but for the sick.

We see how much Christ cared and loved people during His ministry. No one can speak bad about him because all of his actions stem from love.

Today, as witnesses of Christ and representatives of God’s kingdom here on earth, may the course of our lives be influenced by Christ’s love, to be loving witnesses to the lost and to the seeking. May they see God’s goodness in us in the big and small things we do. Christ poured out His love for us and everyday we receive that. May that love overflow to others as we walk as salts and lights of this world.

Grace, empowers us to Obey – ROMANS 6:14-15

“For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace.
What then? Shall we sin because we are not under the law but under grace? By no means!” ROMANS 6:14-15

God’s grace, over and over again, an unfathomable gift to us who believe. God’s grace, His gesture of love that freed us from condemnation and live a life of sanctification from glory to glory, partaking with the victory of the Jesus Christ.

Because of God’s Grace, we can freely confess to the Lord, without condemnation, He always desires to arms wide openly welcome us in from wandering one point to another.

Who can stop His grace? Who can understand this love?

What then shall our response be? Love Him. To love Him is to be in awe of Him. To be always in awe of Him is to desire to obey Him, as we come to the Lord we love daily.

Today, you are empowered to obey not because of your own thriving, but because of God’s grace that allows you to experience what true love is, a love that leads us to obey.
