Yesterday, the Fort Lauderdale (FL), North Broward County (FL), and Greater Broward County (FL) Chapters of The Links, Incorporated hit our stride at the Walk for Healthy Living. Together, we moved for better health, collected non-perishable food to fight local hunger, and shared voting information to Link Up the Vote!

With profound sorrow and enduring gratitude, the Fort Lauderdale (FL) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated celebrates the life of our beloved Chapter Organizer, Charter Member, and Platinum Member, Ethel Pearl Covington Maloney.

Mrs. Maloney held a singular, foundational place in our history. As our Chapter Organizer, it was her visionary leadership and determination that brought women together to establish the Fort Lauderdale (FL) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, culminating in our official chartering on September 21, 1974. Over more than 50 years of active, devoted service, she helped steer our organization at the Chapter and Southern Area level. She served as our chapter’s Vice President, led as Chapter President, and led at the Southern Area level.

Though we mourn the loss of our beloved sister, her enduring legacy lives on in every life she touched, every friendship she nurtured, and every initiative she helped cultivate. We extend our deepest prayers, love, and comfort to the Maloney family and all who loved her.

May her remarkable spirit find eternal rest, and may her extraordinary legacy continue to inspire us all.

As we commemorate June 19, 1865, when the remaining enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas finally received the news of their freedom, we honor the strength, resilience, and enduring legacy of our ancestors.

Today and every day, The Fort Lauderdale (FL) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated remains dedicated to uplifting our community through service, advocacy, and the celebration of our rich cultural heritage. Let us continue to break barriers and cultivate a future of equity and joy.

Our friendship is officially in full bloom! We recently gathered for our New Member Induction Luncheon. It was an afternoon filled with joy, sisterhood, and purpose as we welcomed 7 new members into our chain of friendship and service.

We were honored to have our Southern Area Vice Director, Kenyonn Demps, join us as our special guest and speaker — and we are deeply grateful for her inspiring words and encouraging presence, which made the day even more meaningful.

A special thank you to for gracing our stage with a dance performance that moved us all, and to everyone who attended and made this celebration so unforgettable.
