Sanitary Sewer Force Main Rehabilitation and Replacement Project in Victoria Park: Update

Construction will begin on Monday, August 3, 2026, and is expected to be completed by October 2026 along:
• NE 20th Avenue between NE 9th Place and NE 8th Court

This work includes:
• Cured-in-place pipe lining of approximately 350 feet of sewer lines.
• Restoring the roadway, sidewalks and landscaping as needed.

Related traffic impacts:
• The intersection of NE 9th Place and NE 20th Avenue will be closed.
• The westernmost lane of NE 20th Avenue will be closed between NE 9th Place and NE 8th Court. Both lanes of traffic will be shifted to the east side of the road, and on-street parking in the area will be unavailable to accommodate the travel lanes.
• Left turns from eastbound NE 8th Court to northbound NE 20th Avenue will not be permitted.
• Traffic will be detoured to NE 8th Court and NE 19th Avenue.

While there will be no monthly meeting on Wednesday, August 5th, we will be co-hosting an event with the FLPD at ArtServe.

6:00pm @ 1350 E Sunrise Blvd

Bike helmets will be provided on a first-come, first served basis to children in attendance. Children must be present receive a helmet as they will need to be properly fitted.

We will have different stations setup, raffle prizes (four bicycles), and snacks will be provided by Tim Singer. The Florida Panthers will be supporting us with some goodies to give away. Bike helmets are also important for safety when learning to ice skate!

Our “Lock the Block: Action, Awareness, and Crime Prevention” neighborhood walk had a great turnout from FLPD with a chance for volunteers to meet the team that serves and protects our neighborhood. We walked the highest target streets and reminded our neighbors to lock their doors, take their fobs inside, and secure their valuables out of sight.

Please join us the first Wednesday of each month at 7pm (except August) at St. Anthony Catholic School (in the cafeteria) to keep up-to-date on happenings in the neighborhood and how you can be more involved.

Project Update: Sanitary Sewer Force Main Rehabilitation and Replacement Project

The completion estimate for work in this area has been extended from June to August 2026 due to extended pressure testing of the newly lined pipe.

• NE 14th Avenue between NE 6th Street and NE 9th Street
• NE 9th Street between NE 14th Avenue and NE 15th Avenue

Beginning at 3 PM today NE 3 Street at Federal Highway will be closed to traffic until further notice.

The specific area is on the north side of the Dalmar Hotel and the closure is to accommodate the arrival and hotel stay of the Columbia men's national soccer team.

The closure is expected to last through the time the team is at the hotel which is expected to be late Saturday, June 27.

The team is also having a fan event on June 26 at 7 PM. The team will greet fans from the Dalmar pool deck. Fans will gather below at the SMORGASBURG site. This may result in addition traffic disruption on during the event on NE 2 Street and lanes of South Federal Highway.

Strat Comm and PD will provide updates as the events unfold.

Improvements have begun!

The new dog park will be located just east of where the existing dog park is located to ensure the new dog park is sodded and irrigated (which was not feasible in the original location without negatively impacting the existing pine trees in the area).

After the new dog park is constructed, the current dog park will be closed, the existing fencing and structures will be removed and that area will be converted to open space.

Please note the western portion will remain closed for the duration of the construction. Expected completion is by summer of 2027, whether permitting.

During construction, the playground area as well as portions of the walking path will also remain closed the duration of the construction. Elevated noise levels may occur during work hours from 8am – 5pm.

Please follow all posted signs and travel with caution through the area.

Proposed E-Bike Rules - Public Meeting

The City of Fort Lauderdale invites the community to attend a public meeting on a proposed ordinance related to e-bikes and micromobility devices. The proposed ordinance would address where these devices may operate within parks and shared pedestrian areas to improve safety.

The City of Fort Lauderdale Parks and Recreation Department once again is bringing us the Starlight Musicals concert series.

For 47 years, these free outdoor concerts have provided a great way to enjoy the summer with family and friends on the football field at Holiday Park.

Bring your lawn chairs, picnic baskets, and coolers. Food and beverages will also be available for purchase.
