💜🐾 Another busy week for Baark! — with a PURRfect ending!

From October 5th–9th, our team completed 42 spay & neuter surgeries — 32 dogs and 10 cats! 🐶🐱

We also had a fantastic Trivia Night at West Hill by Best Brew on Thursday! 🍻🧠

And the sweetest part? A foster kitten from Bahamas Feline Foster (BFF) joined the fun and managed to charm her way into a forever home! 🐱❤️

While Baark!'s focus remains spay/neuter and education, we work closely with other animal welfare groups, fosterers, and rescuers across The Bahamas.

Different roles, shared goals, and so much more achieved when we work together! 💜

A huge THANK YOU to our hardworking team, volunteers, sponsors and supporters who make it all possible.

42 surgeries, a great Trivia Night, and one lucky kitten! 🐾

On October 1st, our certified trainer Amy and educational dog Bagheera visited Sadie Curtis Primary School, where we presented to 21 classes across Grades 3-6 totaling 570+ kids.

Our interactive classes teach the importance of spay/neuter, how to take care of our furry friends, and staying safe around dogs.

All children received take-home learning materials, and classrooms received educational posters. Multiple teachers commented that this education for kids is critical, especially with the amount of unwanted animals and issues with dog bites. We were told we would be welcomed back anytime.

Big thanks to amazing Amy and Bagheera for presenting important information in a fun way. The kids loved Bagheera's tricks and got a special treat - the opportunity to pet the star of the show. Photography credits go to our wonderful volunteer, Claire.

BAARK believes in educating the next generation of Bahamians, to enable a brighter future for the animals we share our island with.

From September 28th – October 2nd, our team completed 37 spay & neuter surgeries — 22 dogs and 15 cats! 🐶🐱
But our work doesn’t stop there! This week we were also at Sadie Curtis Primary School, where we reached an incredible 572 children across Grades 3–6 through our animal welfare education program. 🎓🐾
Spay & neuter helps us tackle the problem today. Education helps us change the future.
Week by week, animal by animal, and child by child, we’re working toward healthier animals, more responsible pet ownership and stronger communities across The Bahamas. 💜 🙌

Happy World Animal Day! 🐾💜

Today is all about celebrating animals and the difference we can make to their lives.
At Baark!, our mission is to improve the lives of dogs and cats throughout The Bahamas through spay & neuter and humane education. This year, we were incredibly proud to reach the milestone of 40,000 spay and neuter surgeries since Baark! began in 2009. 🎉

To celebrate that milestone, we launched our 40K Matching Campaign — and today is the FINAL DAY to donate! Thanks to the generosity of the Baker Family Foundation, every donation will be DOUBLED. 💜

Celebrate World Animal Day by helping us continue this important work.

They know the Baark! truck means something GOOD! 💜🐾

These pups were pretty eager to come along for their spay & neuter! 😂

Being out in our communities, meeting animals and their owners where they are, is such an important part of what we do.

Every spay. Every neuter. Every community. It all adds up to a better future for animals in The Bahamas. 💜

Spaying and neutering your pets helps prevent unwanted litters, reduces roaming and certain unwanted behaviours, and can offer important health benefits too. Most importantly, it helps reduce the number of unwanted dogs and cats in our communities. 🐶🐱

Fix your pets. Be part of the solution. 💜
Please share and help us spread the word!

🖤 October 1st is Black Dog Awareness Day 🖤

Today we’re shining a little extra light on the beautiful black dogs who are too often overlooked when it comes to adoption.

This handsome gentleman is Hartley. 🐾 After spending nearly 10 years with a family, Hartley found himself surrendered and needing a new beginning. Thankfully, his story didn’t end there — he got his second chance and is now very much loved, spoiled and exactly where he belongs. 🖤

Black dogs can sometimes wait longer to be noticed, but their colour certainly doesn’t determine the amount of love, loyalty and personality they have to give.

So today, take an extra look at the black dogs waiting in shelters and rescues. Behind that dark coat might just be your very best friend. 🐾🖤
