Lakota-Inspired Talking Stick -for Kids

This talking stick is made from beach wood, shaped by water, wind, and time. Even when the wood bends, it does not break, just like us. The truth does not bend, but kindness does. Kindness bends so we can make space for others.

In Lakota tradition, the talking stick teaches us respect. When someone is holding it, we listen. Listening does not always mean we agree. We may hear opinions that are different from our own, but we honor them with kindness.

Just as beach wood learns from the waves, we learn from each other. By listening, even when we do not agree, we practice respect. This is how we come together, learn together, and grow stronger as a circle.
The talking stick reminds us:

One voice at a time

Truth stands strong

Kindness bends

Respect is learned

We listen with our ears.
We respect with our hearts.
We speak with honesty.
We bend with kindness.
