As an all-volunteer organization, all of our proceeds go into funding cancer research. Stopping cancer in our lifetime is a commitment we want to see come true.

To date, the Royal Dames have raised millions of dollars to encourage, aid, enrich and support valuable educational programs and critical cancer research at the Rumbaugh-Goodwin Institute, located in the Center for Collaborative Research at Nova Southeastern University

Two unforgettable events. One important mission. ✨ The Royal Dames of Cancer Research 2026 “Dancing Queens” Tiara Ball season is almost here!

First, join us for the Fall Luncheon & Fashion Show on Thursday, Oct. 1, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Lauderdale Yacht Club for an afternoon of fashion, friendship and philanthropy, including a runway fashion show, raffles, live and silent auctions and more.

Then, mark your calendar for the 56th Annual Tiara Ball on Saturday, Nov. 14, at Fort Lauderdale Marriott Harbor Beach Resort & Spa for an elegant evening of dining, entertainment and dancing.

Years of research. A future of possibilities. 🔬

From the discovery of RD1 in 2007 to its continued development for glioblastoma treatment in 2024, researchers at Nova Southeastern University (NSU) have made significant strides in exploring its potential as a cancer therapy.

A mission built on generosity. 💜

Royal Dames of Cancer Research traces its history to Dr. Joel Warren’s request for $250,000 to support cancer research. Warren approached Fort Lauderdale resident Theresa Castro, who was inspired to create an organization dedicated to funding cancer research.

One hundred of Castro’s friends each pledged $2,500, leading to the creation of Royal Dames of Cancer Research, Inc. in 1969. Since its founding, Royal Dames has contributed more than $7.68 million in support of cancer research.

The organization has a longstanding relationship with Nova Southeastern University (NSU) and continues to support cancer research at the university while exploring additional opportunities to support research in pursuit of a cure.

Behind every event, fundraiser and initiative is a community united by one goal: helping move cancer research forward.
