Attn retirees… message about qualifications!!!!!
Hello all: The annual fi****ms qualification will be held on February 19th 2024 at the BCC range. Please help me get the word out to anyone you know as I do not have everyones email or phone. I have reached out to sevveral of you already.
The qualification will be held beiginning at 0800 Feb 19,2024. If you are shooting a 9mm or 45 I have been told ammo will be provided. FOR ANY CALIBER OTHER THAN 9MM OR 45 YOU MUST PROVIDE YOUR OWN AMMO. I RECOMMEND AT LEAST 100 ROUNDS JUST IN CASE YOU HAVE TO REPEAT OR NEED TO PRACTICE. I ALSO SUGGEST SOME TRIPS TO A NEARBY RANGE PRIOR TO QUALIFYING. IF YOU PLAN TO SHOOT A REVOLVER PLEASE LET ME KNOW.

If for any reason you can not attend you may qualify to the standards of the State in which you live if you can find a department that will allow you to qualify. You will need your retirement credentials and you may need to register with the State in advance. Texas is one of those states and I know we have some retired members in Texas.
If you are in Florida and can not attend, some local departments and S.O's will allow you to attend one of their sessions. I suggest you do a goole serch for LEOSA Florida qualifications and look for an agency near you.
In the very least I suggest you get a concealed handgun or weapons license from the jurisdiction in which you reside as many states honor those permits. Also if you live in States that prohibit hollow point ammunition remember LEOSA has no such restriction but there is little case law on this subject matter since States have their own laws. I know for a fact that NJ does not care if you are retired they prohibit hollow points. if you want to be a test case go for it. I dont...
Also be careful if you travel across state lines as some states limit your magazine capacity. Again dont be that test case.
Also learn the laws of the States in which you may be armed as each has different laws on self defense and the use of fi****ms. Some states require retreat and others allow stand your ground.
