Our volunteers show up in so many meaningful ways. Some staff our coffee station each morning from 9–12, offering warm drinks and food to the women who walk through our doors. Others spend their weeks in our donations and mail room, sorting contributions and keeping our daily operations running smoothly.

A dedicated few help maintain our furniture, stepping in for small repairs that keep our space welcoming and functional. And our sandwich volunteers make a lunchtime run to Feed Louisville each week, delivering meals directly to UP so no one goes hungry. Every role matters. Every hour given is an act of care.

Special thanks to TrimNulu Salon and owner, Brianne, for generously donating shampoo, conditioner, and hair styling supplies to UP for Women and Children.

Providing meaningful services takes a community, and we are so grateful for partners who step forward to support the people we serve. We are proud to welcome TrimNulu to our growing list of donors and appreciate their heart for making a difference.

Thank you to TrimNulu, for helping us care for our community with dignity, confidence, and kindness.

Since our nation’s founding more than 1.3 million men and women have made the ultimate sacrifice for the ideals and freedoms of our nation. And since 2001, we have lost more than 140,000 or our brave service members and my brothers and sisters to su***de. Today, hold these lives and their sacrifices in your hearts. Honor their legacy and be someone’s hero. All gave some, some gave all, and some are still in the midst of their battle. Never forgotten and never alone!

This Memorial Day, share the memory of your hero who is no longer here. Celebrate their memory and their legacy.

Today I will celebrate SFC Joshua James (October 21, 1987 - November 15, 2022). Joshua was a uniquely kind and loving man who touched the lives of every person he encountered. During the darkest times of my life as I struggled with PTSD, a loss of who I was, and the challenges of what life was for me at that time, he showed me a kindness and a love that helped bring me through and helped me get to the life I have today, a life filled with hope, joy, love, and so much potential. It may seem dramatic to say that Josh saved my life, but at the very least his presence in my life has been a crucial piece in me finding the life I now have. He not only was a hero to nation for his service and sacrifice in combat, but he is a hero to me for the person he was and the example he set every day in his life. I am forever changed for the better to have known him and called him my friend and my brother. Brother’s never forget. You are not forgotten. Your legacy lives on in what we at The Hero’s Legacy Project strive to do; to show the same generosity, kindness, compassion, and love that you displayed in your life. Til Valhalla my brother.
